S-02 uses a wavetrend main line, signal line, momentum cloud, zero pulse, and pivot-based divergence to help you assess changes in market momentum.
It is designed to complement a main-chart indicator by showing whether momentum supports the current market direction, is weakening, or is beginning to diverge from price.
What can I use S-02 for?
S-02 can help you:
-
Check whether momentum is above or below the zero line.
-
Compare the direction of the wavetrend main line and signal line.
-
Identify bull and bear turning-point signals at relatively low or high momentum levels.
-
Identify bull div and bear div between price and momentum.
-
Avoid chasing moves when the market is ranging.
How to read the lower panel
1. WaveTrend main line and signal line
The position of the waveTrend main line relative to the signal line provides a directional momentum reference.
When the main line is above the signal line, momentum is more bullish. When it is below the signal line, momentum is more bearish.
2. Momentum cloud and histogram
The red and green momentum cloud and histogram show the direction and distance between the main line and signal line.
A wider gap indicates a larger difference between the two lines, while a narrowing gap shows that the difference is decreasing.
3. Zero pulse
Zero pulse appears when momentum is close to the zero line or when the difference between the main line and signal line is relatively small.
It is an informational prompt rather than a standalone trading signal.
4. Pivot high, pivot low, bull, and bear
Pivot high and pivot low identify confirmed turning points at relative highs and lows.
Bull and bear labels highlight confirmed momentum turns around these areas.
5. Bull div and bear div
A Bull div, or bullish divergence, occurs when price makes a lower low while momentum forms a higher low.
A Bear div, or bearish divergence, occurs when price makes a higher high while momentum forms a lower high.
Divergence shows that price and momentum are no longer moving in the same way. It does not mean that price will immediately reverse.
6. ±60 and ±80 zones
The ±60 and ±80 levels provide reference areas for relatively extended momentum readings.
Reaching these areas does not mean that the market is automatically overbought or oversold, or that a reversal must follow.
S-02 displays its main information directly in the lower panel and legend rather than through a floating information panel.
Suggested reading sequence
1. Start with the zero line. Check whether the wavetrend main line is above or below zero.
2. Compare the main and signal lines. Check their relative direction together with the momentum histogram.
3. Review the momentum zone. See whether momentum has entered the ±60 or ±80 areas.
4. Check for divergence. If bull div or bear div appears, wait for confirmation from price action or structure on the main chart.
5. Confirm the signal. Make sure the relevant candle has closed and any required pivot confirmation is complete.
Settings overview
S-02 settings include:
-
Channel period
-
Average period
-
Signal period
-
Left- and right-side pivot confirmation
-
Maximum number of visible labels
-
Divergence threshold
-
Divergence label visibility
-
Momentum-zone visibility
-
Zero pulse visibility
Shorter periods or a lower divergence threshold generally make the indicator more sensitive, but may also produce more short-lived signals.
When adjusting settings, consider changing one group at a time and using chart replay to compare the results.
Confirmation and replay
Divergences and turning points require the configured number of closed candles to the right of a pivot before they can be confirmed.
As a result, a divergence or turning-point label will appear several candles after the actual high or low.
During chart replay, S-02 displays a divergence only after the required pivot confirmation would have been available at that historical point. Future candles are not used to display a divergence early.
S-02 limitations and risks
1. Divergence does not guarantee a reversal
Divergence shows that price and momentum are moving differently. It does not mean that price will reverse immediately, and it should not be used as the sole basis for a trade.
2. Momentum can remain extended
During a strong trend, S-02 may remain at relatively high or low momentum levels for an extended period. An extreme reading alone does not mean that the trend is about to end.
3. Pivot confirmation creates a delay
Pivot confirmation helps reduce changes caused by unconfirmed turning points, but it also creates an unavoidable delay.
A turning point may therefore be visible on the chart before S-02 can confirm it.
4. ±60 and ±80 are reference zones
The ±60 and ±80 levels are reference areas for momentum. They are not fixed buy or sell levels.
FAQs
1. Should I go long as soon as bull div appears?
No. Do not open a position based on divergence alone. Wait for additional confirmation, such as support on the main chart, strengthening market structure, or a clearly defined risk level.
2. Why does a divergence label point to an earlier candle but appear several candles later?
The label points to the actual pivot where the divergence occurred, but S-02 can only confirm that pivot after the required number of candles to its right have closed. This is why the label may appear several candles after the pivot itself.
3. Is zero pulse a buy or sell signal?
No. Zero pulse only indicates that momentum is close to the zero line or that the difference between the main line and signal line is relatively small. It should not be treated as a standalone buy or sell signal.
