Quant QNT rallies on bank payments deals

2026-09-28 03:22

Quant’s QNT token surged as high as 373 USDT during a volatile week, before trading near 265 USDT, up 46.64% in 24 hours and 297.3% over seven days. The rally followed Quant’s selection by US payments operator The Clearing House to support a planned network for clearing and settling tokenised bank deposits, alongside renewed attention on the company’s work with banks in the UK, Japan and Europe.

The move has put a sharp market value on Quant’s role in financial-infrastructure projects, although public disclosures describe the company as a technology provider and do not show that participating banks will need to acquire QNT on the open market. Quant states that its Overledger platform subscriptions can be paid in QNT, but the expected scale of project revenue and any resulting token demand remain undisclosed.

The Clearing House selects Quant for tokenised deposits project

Quant announced on Sept. 24 that The Clearing House, a US payments company owned by major banks, had selected it to provide technology for the On-Chain Money Initiative. The project aims to create an interoperable network through which financial institutions could clear and settle tokenised deposits.

Under the arrangement, Quant is expected to provide interoperability technology, transaction orchestration and transaction management. The system is intended to connect emerging tokenised-money networks with established payment rails, including TCH’s Real-Time Payments network, known as RTP, and the Clearing House Interbank Payments System, or CHIPS.

According to The Clearing House, its payment networks handle more than $2 trillion in clearing and settlement activity each day. The new tokenised-deposit network is expected to open to participating institutions in the first half of 2027.

Tokenised deposits are commercial-bank deposits represented on a digital ledger. Banks and payment operators are exploring the model as a way to make money programmable, allowing transfers to carry rules for timing, settlement conditions or permitted uses while remaining a bank liability.

Quant’s role places Overledger between bank systems and multiple blockchains or distributed ledgers. The company describes the platform as middleware, software designed to let institutions connect systems without replacing their core banking technology. That approach is central to Quant’s appeal for large financial firms, which tend to operate complex legacy platforms that cannot easily be rebuilt around a single blockchain.

QNT’s link to institutional projects remains indirect

The price rise has coincided with announcements that strengthen Quant’s institutional profile, but those announcements have not detailed a direct requirement for banks to purchase or hold QNT. The Clearing House’s public description of the initiative identifies Quant as an infrastructure supplier rather than a settlement-asset provider.

Quant says customers can pay Overledger subscription fees in QNT. That creates a potential connection between platform use and the token, although the company has not published figures showing how much subscription income its banking projects could generate, whether customers elect to pay in QNT, or how much QNT would be required for project activity.

This leaves the token trading partly on expectations that successful infrastructure deployments will translate into demand. The distinction is material after a nearly 300% weekly gain: adoption of Quant’s software would validate its commercial positioning, but it would not automatically establish token purchases at a scale implied by the market’s most bullish assumptions.

Earlier partnerships broaden Quant’s banking footprint

The Clearing House agreement arrived after several other institutional collaborations announced this year. In January, Quant entered a strategic partnership with Japanese systems integrator Dentsu Soken focused on tokenised deposits, institutional stablecoins and programmable settlement infrastructure for financial institutions in Japan.

In March, Quant partnered with financial software provider Murex to integrate programmable-money capabilities into the MX.3 platform. Murex’s software is used by banks and other institutions for trading, risk management and post-trade operations. The integration is intended to allow clients to handle tokenised deposits and digital bonds through workflows they already use.

Quant has also supplied technology for the Great British Tokenised Deposits project. The UK finance industry association said this month that Barclays, HSBC UK, Lloyds, Monzo, Nationwide, NatWest and Santander had completed an initial set of tokenised pound-denominated deposit transactions involving real customers. Quant provided the project’s technical infrastructure.

Its public-sector work includes participation in Project Rosalind, an initiative involving the Bank for International Settlements and the Bank of England that examined application programming interfaces for a possible retail central bank digital currency. In 2025, Quant also joined the European Central Bank’s digital euro innovation platform Pioneer programme, where it tested functions including conditional payments.

Social-media momentum added fuel to the rally

Social-media activity accelerated as QNT was already climbing. A Sept. 27 post by Jan Nieuwenhuijs received more than 10 million views after framing QNT through the format of an early Bitcoin buying recommendation, presenting a $120 “risk” against a potential $10,000 profit. The post spread widely across cryptocurrency channels and added a retail-speculation element to a rally initially tied to banking announcements.

Market data cited in the supplied material showed QNT’s 14-day relative strength index above 91 in late September. The RSI is a momentum indicator, and readings above 70 are commonly treated by technical traders as overbought conditions. Daily volume also rose 320% to $355 million across major trading venues, according to the same data.

Doctor Profit, a trader posting on X, said he had closed all of his QNT positions because long positions had become crowded and large holders were beginning to sell. He said further upside remained possible but described his own move as profit-taking.

QNT’s next trading phase will likely depend less on another partnership headline than on whether Quant, The Clearing House or participating banks clarify the commercial structure behind the on-chain money network. Details on subscription arrangements, production deployment and token use would give traders a firmer basis for assessing whether Quant’s infrastructure role can produce measurable demand for QNT.
