How to set up a passkey for your Toobit account

2026-10-19 08:29

A simpler way to sign in, with security built in. Passkeys make accessing your Toobit account and completing security verification easier and more convenient, without compromising account protection.

This guide walks you through how passkeys work, their benefits, and how to set up and manage one in the Toobit app.

What is a passkey?

A passkey is a secure authentication method that lets you verify your identity using your fingerprint, facial recognition, device PIN, or a supported security key, without entering a password or verification code.

Unlike traditional passwords, passkeys use public-key cryptography to protect your login credentials. You can use them to log in to your Toobit account and verify sensitive actions, such as withdrawals or changes to your security settings.

Why use a passkey?

Passkeys offer several advantages over traditional password-based authentication.

1. Less typing, easier verification

No need to manually enter a password or verification code when using a passkey. Simply authenticate using your device's supported verification method.

2. Stronger protection for your account

Passkeys use public-key cryptography. Your private key stays securely stored on your device or with your passkey provider and is never shared during authentication, helping protect against credential theft.

3. Built-in phishing protection

Passkeys are linked to a specific website or app, so they cannot be used to authenticate on a fraudulent website pretending to be Toobit. This helps protect your account against phishing attempts.

4. Choose how you verify

Depending on your device and operating system, you can authenticate using your fingerprint, facial recognition, PIN, or a supported security key.

How to set up a passkey in the Toobit app

Follow these steps to add a passkey to your account.

Step 1: Go to Passkey settings

  1. Open the Toobit app and tap your profile icon in the top-left corner.

  2. Go to Security settings > Advanced settings > Passkey.

Step 2: Add a passkey

Tap Add to begin setting up your passkey. You may be prompted to verify your identity using an existing security method linked to your account or a previously registered passkey.

Step 3: Complete verification and save your passkey

  1. Complete the required security verification, such as entering an email verification code.

  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to authenticate using your device's fingerprint, facial recognition, or another supported method.

  3. Once the setup is complete, your passkey will be registered to your Toobit account.

Step 4: Log in with your passkey

Your passkey is now ready to use.

The next time you log in to your Toobit account, select the passkey login option and follow your device's prompts to verify your identity.

FAQs

1. Can I use passkeys on multiple devices?

Yes. You can create passkeys on multiple supported devices.

Depending on your device and passkey provider, your passkeys may also sync across devices, allowing you to use them without setting up a new passkey each time.

2. What happens if I lose my device?

If you lose a device associated with your passkey, log in to your Toobit account using another available verification method.

Then, go to Security settings > Advanced settings > Passkey and remove the passkey associated with the lost device.

3. Can I use passkeys alongside two-factor authentication (2FA)?

Yes. Passkeys can be used alongside other account security methods, including 2FA.

The verification method required may vary depending on the action you are performing.

4. How do I remove a passkey?

To remove a passkey, open the Toobit app and go to Security settings > Advanced settings > Passkey. Select the passkey you want to remove and follow the on-screen instructions.

5. Can I use a passkey if my device doesn't support biometric authentication?

Yes. Biometric authentication isn't always required.

Depending on your device and operating system, you may be able to use a PIN, device password, or another supported authentication method instead.

6. What should I do if my passkey isn't working?

If you are having trouble using your passkey, try the following:

  • Make sure your device has a screen lock password, PIN, or another supported authentication method enabled.

  • Check that your device, operating system, and browser support passkeys.

  • Try another available verification method to access your account.

Security reminders

Passkeys add another layer of protection to your account, but keeping your devices secure is just as important.

  • Use trusted devices: Only create and use passkeys on devices you own or trust.

  • Keep your account information private: Never share your login credentials, verification codes, or other sensitive security information.

  • Review your passkeys: Remove passkeys associated with lost, stolen, or untrusted devices.

  • Act quickly if something seems wrong: If you notice unusual account activity or suspect unauthorized access, remove any affected passkeys and contact customer support.
