US spot Bitcoin ETFs record $2.4 billion inflows

2026-09-26 17:37

U.S. spot bitcoin exchange-traded funds absorbed $2.4 billion in net inflows in the week ended Sept. 25, their strongest weekly intake since October 2025, erasing a steep year-to-date deficit and returning the category to positive flows for 2026.

The five-day run brought net inflows for U.S. spot bitcoin ETFs to roughly $934.1 million for the year, according to SoSoValue and ETF flow data. That marks a sharp reversal from July 13, when the products were about $5.8 billion in net outflows for 2026. The group added $3 billion across seven consecutive inflow days from Sept. 17 through Sept. 25.

Monday delivered the largest share of the weekly demand, with $999 million entering the funds. It was the biggest daily inflow since Oct. 6, 2025, and the ninth-largest day since U.S. spot bitcoin ETFs began trading in January 2024. Daily net additions then fell to $714.7 million on Tuesday, $347 million on Wednesday, $190.6 million on Thursday and $134.5 million on Friday.

The tapering inflows suggest that the week’s opening burst was not sustained at the same pace through Friday, even as every session remained positive. The prior week had produced only $6.2 million in net inflows, with a single $433 million Friday accounting for the entire positive result.

Bitcoin ETF flows recover after July outflows

The $2.4 billion weekly total was the largest since the week ended Oct. 10, 2025, when spot bitcoin ETFs drew $2.7 billion. Bitcoin reached what was then a record price of $126,296 during that earlier period, according to the figures provided.

BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust, trading under the ticker IBIT, led the latest weekly intake with $1.2 billion in net inflows. It was the fund’s second-largest weekly addition since October 2025, behind the $1.3 billion it received in the week ended Aug. 21.

Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund, or FBTC, took in $701.7 million, its strongest weekly result since the week of Sept. 8, 2025. ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETF, known as ARKB, added $294.7 million, with nearly all of that amount arriving on Monday.

MSBT received $203.3 million during the week, its largest intake since launching in April. The fund’s previous weekly high was $71.1 million in mid-April, placing its latest result well above its earlier peak.

Cumulative net inflows into U.S. spot bitcoin ETFs reached $57.6 billion since their January 2024 debut. The products held $108.4 billion in net assets as of Friday, while combined weekly trading volume reached $15 billion, down from $16.2 billion a week earlier. The drop in turnover alongside stronger flows indicates that new allocations were concentrated in fund creations rather than accompanied by a broad increase in trading activity.

Treasury buyback discussion enters the flow narrative

Eric Balchunas, Bloomberg Intelligence’s senior ETF analyst, linked the turnaround in part to the U.S. Treasury Department’s stated plan to increase buybacks of long-dated bonds. In a post on X, Balchunas described the resulting ETF demand as a “$4.6b tsunami of cash.”

Nate Geraci, president of The ETF Store, wrote on X that the funds had received $5.3 billion since the buyback plans were announced. He also pointed to Monday’s $999 million result as the ninth-largest daily inflow since the products launched.

The Treasury’s debt-management operations can affect financial-market liquidity and long-dated borrowing conditions, though ETF flows also respond to bitcoin’s price, portfolio rebalancing and changing appetite for risk. Bitcoin was trading near $84,000 in the period described, below its October 2025 record.

Ether funds post their strongest week in nearly a month

U.S. spot ether ETFs also rebounded, recording $689.9 million in weekly net inflows after roughly $140 million of outflows in the preceding week. Monday accounted for $270 million, the largest daily addition for the category since Oct. 7, 2025.

The other four sessions brought inflows between $66 million and $162.3 million, producing the strongest weekly total for spot ether ETFs since the week ended Aug. 28, when the funds received $824.4 million.

BlackRock’s ETHA led with $326.2 million in weekly net inflows. Fidelity’s FETH followed with $174 million, while the Ethereum Mini Trust added $100.3 million. ETHB brought in $47.5 million, including $31.9 million on Friday.

Spot ether ETFs were about $1.6 billion in positive net flows for 2026 and held $17.8 billion in net assets. Their cumulative net inflows since launch stood at $13.9 billion. Weekly trading volume, meanwhile, declined to $4.8 billion from $6.9 billion the previous week.

Solana and XRP products add to crypto fund demand

Newer U.S. spot crypto funds also recorded gains. Spot Solana ETFs drew $188.2 million for the week, their second-best weekly result after the $199.2 million collected during their late-October 2025 launch week.

Friday was particularly strong for Solana products, which took in a record $86.7 million in a single day. BSOL accounted for $55.7 million of that total. Combined Solana ETF assets rose to a record $1.5 billion on Friday from $1.2 billion a week earlier, with BSOL holding roughly 71% of the category’s assets.

Spot XRP ETFs added $75.6 million over the week. ZCSH briefly surpassed $1 billion in net assets on Thursday, according to the data.

The week’s figures place bitcoin ETF demand at the center of a broader recovery across listed U.S. crypto funds, but the declining day-by-day bitcoin inflow totals and lower trading volumes leave the durability of the move dependent on whether large fund buyers continue allocating after the initial surge.
