Robinhood adds AI agents and 24 7 trading

2026-09-30 03:07

Robinhood is bringing AI-powered trading agents directly into its app while preparing perpetual crypto contracts, round-the-clock stock trading and earnings-linked derivatives in a sweeping expansion of its trading products.

The company unveiled the package at its HOOD Summit 2026 event in Houston, positioning its new Robinhood Agents feature as the center of a broader effort to combine market data, automated strategies and execution tools in one consumer-facing platform. The rollout would give eligible users the ability to create AI agents for research, strategy design and, depending on account controls, automated order execution.

Robinhood said more than 150,000 users have opened accounts for its separate Agentic Trading product since it launched in May. That service allows third-party AI agents to connect to customer accounts under controlled permissions. According to Robinhood, those agents now make close to 30 million tool calls each day.

The in-app version is designed to reduce the technical steps required to use those capabilities. Users will be able to name an agent, open a separate agent-linked account, choose an AI model — including options from OpenAI — and set trading permissions. Controls include the ability to require approval for every trade before an order is submitted.

A planned feature called Loops would allow strategies to run repeatedly over time rather than requiring the user to launch each session manually. Robinhood said agents will only be able to access cash and assets allocated to their dedicated accounts, separating their activity from the user’s remaining balances.

That structure could limit losses to the funds assigned to an agent, though it does not eliminate the risk of poor strategy design, software errors or rapid market moves. Automated execution can also create a different risk profile from research tools: removing trade-by-trade approval allows orders to be placed faster, but gives the user less opportunity to review an agent’s decision before it reaches the market.

Paid data tools will feed Robinhood Agents

Robinhood is also launching Agent Apps, a subscription marketplace for data products and analytical tools that can be used alongside its AI features. Eleven providers are included in the first group, with each service offering a one-month free trial and monthly prices ranging from $5 to $30.

The initial offering includes Options Trader from Unusual Whales for $30 per month, Investor Intelligence from Nasdaq for $10, Options Edge from SpotGamma for $10, and Market Interpreter from Wendy for $10. Government Tracking from Quiver Quantitative and Crypto Fundamentals from Token Terminal will each cost $10 per month.

Robinhood said Token Terminal’s service covers more than 100 blockchains and 1,200 applications. Other products include Weather Trader from Visual Crossing for $5 monthly, Satellite Intelligence from SkyFi for $10, and the ChatterFlow Viral Stocks Detector from Narravance for $8. Carbon Arc and Fiscal.ai are expected to join later.

The marketplace gives Robinhood a way to turn its app into a distribution channel for specialist market intelligence, rather than limiting users to its own charts and news feeds. It also raises the practical question of how users distinguish useful data from signals that merely appear sophisticated. A subscription to on-chain data or options analytics can broaden research, but does not make a trading strategy reliable on its own.

Perpetual crypto contracts are planned for coming months

The company also said eligible U.S. customers will be able to trade perpetual contracts in the app in the coming months through Robinhood Derivatives via Bitstamp. The first assets listed are Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, XRP, Dogecoin, Cardano, Chainlink and HYPE.

Bitcoin and Ethereum perpetuals would offer leverage of up to 10 times, while the remaining assets would be available with up to three times leverage. Perpetual contracts are derivatives that do not have a fixed expiry date, allowing traders to maintain positions without rolling them into a later-dated contract.

Robinhood said it plans to charge 1 basis point, or 0.01%, per trade through the end of the year. The app will display liquidation prices in real time and include stop-loss and take-profit orders, along with risk alerts.

The risk controls are relevant given the leverage available on Bitcoin and Ethereum contracts. A 10x position magnifies both gains and losses, meaning relatively small moves can sharply reduce a trader’s collateral or trigger liquidation. Overnight and weekend markets can introduce additional execution risks when liquidity is thinner and prices move quickly.

Around-the-clock stocks and earnings contracts await review

Robinhood said it plans to offer 24/7 trading for a selected group of U.S. stocks and ETFs, including weekend sessions, subject to regulatory review. The initial product would support all account types, with Bruce ATS providing execution and liquidity infrastructure.

The company did not identify the securities that will be available at launch. Around-the-clock stock trading would extend a model already familiar in cryptocurrency markets into U.S. equities, though trading outside regular market hours can involve wider spreads and lower available liquidity.

Ahead of the third-quarter earnings season, Robinhood also plans to add Earnings Contracts to its prediction-market hub. The binary contracts, provided by Cboe and subject to regulatory review, would allow eligible users to take positions on company-specific outcomes such as whether earnings beat expectations or whether revenue reaches a stated threshold.

Robinhood said neither it nor Cboe expects to charge fees for the contracts through the end of the year.

Options hours and intraday margin will expand

Starting in October, Robinhood plans to extend U.S. options trading hours to 7:30 a.m. through 4:15 p.m. The company said that represents a 35% increase in trading time for the most actively traded underlyings on its platform.

An order type known as One-Cancels-the-Other, or OCO, is also scheduled for stocks in October and for options early next year. It allows a trader to set both a take-profit order and a stop-loss order on the same position; when one order executes, the other is canceled.

Eligible margin accounts will be able to opt into up to 4x intraday margin during regular market hours beginning next month, up from 2x. Robinhood said it will provide push notifications near the market close and a one-time in-app notice when customers enable the feature.

Taken together, the launches place more complex derivatives, automation and leverage tools alongside Robinhood’s traditional stock-trading interface. The company’s safeguards may make those products easier to manage, but they also put greater weight on users setting position limits, understanding automated permissions and treating leverage as a tool that can accelerate losses as quickly as returns.
