Nium partnership expands stablecoin off ramps for RedotPay users

2026-10-08 00:07

Nium and RedotPay have partnered to extend stablecoin off-ramp services to RedotPay’s more than nine million users, connecting blockchain-based balances with bank accounts, digital wallets and card payout channels in markets around the world.

Announced at TOKEN2049 in Singapore on Oct. 8, the agreement gives RedotPay access to Nium’s payment network, which supports transactions in more than 100 currencies across 190 countries, according to the companies’ announcement. The integration is designed to help users convert and spend stablecoin value through local payment infrastructure rather than keeping funds inside crypto-native platforms.

For RedotPay, whose service combines stablecoin payments with conventional financial rails, the arrangement expands the geographic reach of its off-ramp capabilities. Off-ramps are the services that enable a user to move value from digital assets into national currencies, typically through a bank transfer, wallet payment or card-based payout.

The partnership addresses a practical constraint in stablecoin payments: a stablecoin can move quickly on a blockchain, but its usefulness for payroll, household spending or cross-border transfers often depends on whether recipients can receive local currency through familiar channels.

Nium brings licensed payout network

Nium said its cross-border payments network processed more than $84 billion over the past year. The company said it operates payout capabilities in more than 190 markets, with more than 100 markets able to settle transactions in real time.

RedotPay will connect its stablecoin payment flows to that infrastructure, allowing funds originating from its platform to be routed to bank accounts, wallets and cards where supported. The announcement did not provide country-by-country rollout dates, supported stablecoins, fees or transaction limits.

Nium said that it connects to stablecoin rails through regulated blockchain infrastructure partners, while disbursements are handled through its own licensed payment network. That structure places the crypto conversion and the local payout in separate parts of the transaction flow: blockchain-linked providers connect the stablecoin side, while Nium’s payments infrastructure delivers the local-currency end payment.

The company reported holding regulatory licenses in more than 40 countries. It also said it is a principal member of Visa, Mastercard, Discover and UATP, the payments network used extensively in travel. Nium issues more than 41 million card credentials each year, according to the company.

Those relationships could give RedotPay users more options than a standard bank withdrawal, particularly in markets where digital wallet adoption is high or card payout programs are more accessible than international wire transfers.

Off-ramps move into the payments layer

The deal reflects a growing focus on the final stage of stablecoin transactions. Sending a dollar-denominated token across borders can be fast and relatively inexpensive, but recipients often still need access to local currency to pay merchants, settle bills or send funds onward.

Traditional off-ramping has frequently involved transferring stablecoins to an exchange, trading them into fiat currency and waiting for a withdrawal to clear through a bank. A payment-network connection could reduce the number of separate services a user must navigate, depending on the markets and payout methods available.

That does not remove the operational requirements tied to cross-border payments. Users may still face identity checks, transaction monitoring, local currency conversion and limits that vary by jurisdiction. The value of the Nium-RedotPay arrangement will depend heavily on execution in individual markets, where banking rules and available payment methods can differ sharply.

Stablecoins have increasingly been positioned as a settlement layer for international transactions, especially where payment providers can pair token transfers with established compliance and payout operations. The model is less about asking merchants or recipients to hold cryptocurrency and more about using blockchain rails behind the scenes while delivering familiar local payment methods at the endpoint.

RedotPay targets day-to-day stablecoin use

RedotPay described itself as a stablecoin-based payments fintech that integrates blockchain technology with traditional banking and finance infrastructure. The company said its platform is used by millions of customers globally, though the announcement did not break down usage by region or product.

The company’s user base of more than nine million gives the partnership a sizeable potential distribution channel. Its customers could use the expanded infrastructure for transfers and spending where local payout access is available, while Nium gains a stablecoin-focused distribution partner without operating the consumer-facing wallet or payment application itself.

Nium is co-headquartered in San Francisco and Singapore. Its participation at TOKEN2049 placed the announcement before one of the largest annual gatherings in the digital-asset sector; organizers said the Singapore event was expected to attract more than 25,000 attendees in October.

The arrangement also illustrates the competitive advantage sought by payment firms that can combine stablecoin connectivity with regulated fiat distribution. Wallet providers can offer token transfers directly, but creating a dependable route into bank accounts, cards and local wallets requires licensing, banking relationships and settlement operations across multiple jurisdictions.

For RedotPay users, the immediate question will be which countries and payout options become available first. The companies have established the network-level framework, while the practical test will come through local coverage, conversion pricing, transfer speed and the ability to reach the payment methods people already use.
