Ehrmann family increases stake in Artmarket.com

2026-08-25 15:40

The Ehrmann family has increased its ownership of Artmarket.com through a series of regulatory filings in France, linking the purchases to the listed art-market data company’s “AI-FIRST” transformation plan. The disclosures, published through the French Financial Markets Authority’s ONDE system on August 17 and August 20, record additional share purchases by members of the family behind Artmarket.com and its Artprice division.

The filings are numbered 2026DD1133787, published August 17, and 2026DD1134265 and 2026DD1134267, both published August 20, according to the AMF’s ONDE extranet. ONDE is the regulator’s platform for statutory market disclosures, including notifications of transactions by senior executives and other closely associated people.

Artmarket.com did not provide the number of shares purchased, the prices paid, or the family’s resulting ownership percentage in the information supplied. The filings nevertheless place the family’s purchases alongside the company’s attempt to build new artificial-intelligence products around its long-established auction and art-price databases.

Nadège Ehrmann reports additional purchases

Nadège Ehrmann, a member of Artmarket.com’s board, acquired additional shares and submitted the required notifications to both the company and the AMF, Artmarket.com said. Her aggregated purchases crossed the reporting threshold under Article 19 of the European Union’s Market Abuse Regulation.

Article 19 requires people with managerial responsibilities at a listed company, as well as closely associated persons, to disclose transactions involving the issuer’s shares once the applicable annual threshold has been reached. The rule is designed to give the market visibility into dealings by corporate insiders without implying that every transaction reflects a view on near-term share performance.

Artmarket.com said the transactions took place during permitted trading windows. Listed-company directors and executives can face restrictions on dealing in shares during closed periods, particularly near the publication of financial results or other potentially market-sensitive announcements.

The family’s purchases come as Artmarket.com presents artificial intelligence as the next operating layer for Artprice, its art-market information business. The company is listed on Euronext Paris under the Euroclear identifier 7478, while Bloomberg lists the shares under PRC and Reuters uses ARTF, according to Artmarket.com.

Ai products are central to Artmarket.com’s strategy

Artmarket.com has described two new data products, Intuitive Art Market and Blind Spot, as part of its AI-focused plans. The company said the services draw daily information from 7,200 auction houses worldwide and are priced between $1,600 and $2,500 a year.

The commercial case for such tools rests on the difficulty of valuing art from scattered sales records. Auction prices can vary widely according to an artist’s market, condition, provenance, sale location, estimate setting and the timing of a work’s appearance. An AI system trained on extensive historical sales information could help users identify comparable transactions more quickly, though it would not remove the subjective judgments that continue to affect art valuation.

Artmarket.com said its databases include more than 30 million indices and auction results covering more than 915,300 artists. Its image service contains at least 181 million digital images of works dating from 1700 to the present, the company said.

Those datasets give the company a substantial archive from which to develop machine-learning services. The challenge will be translating a large catalogue of historical records into tools that professionals consider sufficiently transparent and reliable for real pricing decisions, particularly in markets where a small number of high-value sales can influence an artist’s benchmark prices.

Artmarket.com also said its platform has 9.3 million members and operates a fixed-price marketplace where users can post listings. It publishes art-market trend material for agencies and media titles across 121 countries in 11 languages, according to the company.

Manuscript traces Artprice’s ai development

Thierry Ehrmann has separately completed an approximately 1,800-page manuscript on philosophy, science and artificial intelligence from 1987 to the present, Artmarket.com said. About 450 pages of core chapters document the development of Artprice, the company added.

The manuscript is scheduled for a free digital release worldwide alongside a paid print edition. An English edition is planned for the end of August 2026, followed by a French edition in September 2026.

The project extends the company’s effort to frame its data business within a longer history of AI development. Artprice has operated as an art-market information provider for decades, and Artmarket.com is now seeking to apply newer AI systems to a database built from auction catalogues, images, artist records and market results.

Artmarket.com said its latest TPI shareholder analysis covered more than 18,000 individual shareholders, excluding foreign shareholders, companies, banks, French mutual funds known as FCPs and UCITS funds. That shareholder base means the AMF disclosures provide a formal public record of changes in ownership by the company’s most closely watched insiders.

The new filings do not by themselves establish the commercial success of the planned AI products. They do show that the Ehrmann family is adding to its exposure as Artmarket.com moves from describing an AI strategy to offering paid tools built around its auction-market data.
