BitMine Immersion Technologies said it held 6,041,481 ETH as of Oct. 18 after buying another 12,535 ETH during the previous week, taking its corporate Ethereum treasury to roughly 4.9% of the circulating supply cited by the company. At an ETH price of $2,365, BitMine valued the position at about $14.3 billion.
The disclosure, released Monday, places BitMine among the largest known corporate holders of ether and concentrates a substantial share of the asset’s reported 122.1 million-token circulating supply within one public company. The weekly purchase was modest relative to BitMine’s existing balance, but the update shows that the company remains committed to adding ether rather than merely managing a static treasury.
Most of the company’s ETH is already committed to staking. BitMine said 5,067,309 ETH, worth approximately $12 billion using its Oct. 18 valuation, was staked through its MAVAN platform and external staking partners. That represents about 84% of its ether holdings.
Staking turns treasury holdings into an income strategy
BitMine estimated that its currently staked ether could generate $309 million in annualized revenue. If the company stakes its entire ETH position, the annualized figure would rise to $369 million, based on the assumptions used in its disclosure.
Those projections imply a staking yield of roughly 2.6% before accounting for operating costs, validator expenses, partner fees, or changes in Ethereum network rewards. Ethereum staking income can also fluctuate as the total amount of ETH staked changes, transaction-fee conditions move, and validator reward mechanics adjust.
The scale of BitMine’s staking position gives the company an operating model different from a corporate treasury that simply holds a cryptocurrency in cold storage. By staking the bulk of its ether, the company is seeking to produce recurring on-chain rewards while retaining exposure to ETH’s price.
That approach also creates practical constraints. Staked ETH involves validator operations and, depending on the chosen staking arrangement, may carry withdrawal timing, counterparty, and service-provider risks. BitMine’s use of both its MAVAN platform and staking partners means the company’s revenue target depends not only on Ethereum’s protocol rewards but also on the performance and structure of those arrangements.
Ether makes up most of the reported $15.1 billion total
BitMine said its combined holdings of cryptocurrency, cash, marketable securities, and other investments reached $15.1 billion as of Oct. 18. Ether accounts for the overwhelming majority of that total, making the company’s balance sheet closely tied to movements in ETH.
Beyond its Ethereum position, the company reported holding 215 BTC, a $180 million stake in Beast Industries, a $74 million investment in Eightco Holdings, and $582 million of cash and marketable securities. The non-ETH assets provide some diversification, though they remain small compared with the company’s reported ether treasury.
The Beast Industries and Eightco positions add exposure to businesses outside Ethereum’s network, including digital media and technology-linked ventures. BitMine grouped those stakes with its crypto holdings, cash, and securities under its $15.1 billion total rather than presenting them as a separate operating segment.
A large ETH treasury can amplify gains when the token rises, but it also makes the company’s valuation sensitive to downside moves in ether. A 10% change in ETH’s price would alter the marked value of BitMine’s reported 6.04 million ETH balance by roughly $1.43 billion, before considering the effects on its smaller holdings.
Supply concentration meets a volatile market backdrop
BitMine Chairman Tom Lee linked recent pressure on crypto markets to geopolitical tensions, higher bond yields, and concerns surrounding artificial-intelligence funding and model safety. Lee said cryptocurrency ownership is widespread in the United States, South Korea, and Taiwan, and argued that market moves reflected risk reduction across those regions.
Rising government-bond yields can weigh on crypto and technology-linked assets by increasing the return available from lower-risk fixed-income securities while raising financing costs across the economy. The relationship is not mechanical, but large moves in yields have frequently coincided with changes in appetite for volatile assets.
Ether traded above $2,400 on Monday, according to market figures included with the update, rising 0.43% over the preceding 24 hours. BitMine shares closed Friday at $21.66, down 7.28% for the session.
The divergence between the company’s massive reported asset base and the short-term movement of its shares underscores a recurring issue for digital-asset treasury companies: equity traders must assess both the underlying token holdings and the corporate structure built around them. Treasury values can move continuously with crypto prices, while the shares may also reflect concerns over financing, execution, dilution, custody, staking operations, and the market’s willingness to assign a premium or discount to the underlying assets.
BitMine’s latest update therefore leaves the company increasingly defined by two linked calculations: the value of its ether reserve and the yield it can earn by putting that reserve to work. With more than five million ETH already staked, the firm has moved much of its balance sheet from passive token exposure into Ethereum’s reward system, while retaining substantial sensitivity to every major shift in the ETH market.
