Bitcoin Amsterdam returns to Sugar Factory 2026

2026-10-20 02:52

Bitcoin Amsterdam will return to the SugarFactory on Nov. 5-6, 2026, with its fifth edition placing corporate Bitcoin treasuries, banking participation and policy discussions at the center of its program. A private institutional gathering, the BFC Symposium, will precede the public conference on Nov. 4 and focus on capital allocators and companies building Bitcoin reserves.

The scheduling gives the event a distinctly institutional structure: executives and finance professionals will meet behind closed doors before developers, business leaders, policymakers and community participants join the two-day main program. Organizers say the agenda is designed to bring together the groups now shaping Bitcoin’s use in corporate finance and public policy, rather than treating those subjects as separate tracks.

BTC Inc. CEO Brandon Green said Bitcoin adoption relies on institutions willing to hold the asset, regulators seeking to understand it and the community that has developed its underlying technology for more than a decade.

The conference’s emphasis reflects the growing visibility of corporate Bitcoin reserve strategies, though the decisions facing companies remain far from simple. Adding Bitcoin to a balance sheet exposes a business to price volatility, accounting treatment, custody requirements and questions from shareholders or lenders. Events such as the BFC Symposium are increasingly positioned as places where companies can discuss those operational questions away from the public stage.

Treasury executives and banks join developer-focused agenda

The announced speaker list combines figures from Bitcoin’s technical community with executives involved in corporate treasury management and financial services.

Bitcoin Core developer Sjors Provoost is scheduled to speak alongside René Pickhardt, an open-source researcher focused on the Lightning Network. Their participation keeps protocol development and payment infrastructure on the agenda as companies explore Bitcoin’s financial role. Bitcoin Brabant B.V. owner Bert de Groot is also listed among the confirmed speakers.

The business side of the program includes Strike founder and CEO Jack Mallers; David Bailey, chief executive officer and chairman of Nakamoto Inc.; and Khing Oei, founder and CEO of Treasury. Each has been associated with efforts to expand Bitcoin’s role in payments, public markets or corporate reserve management.

Banking representation is also prominent. Maarten van der Noordaa, digital assets transformation manager at Rabobank, is expected to appear with Milko Hensel, head of the technology banking team at Maerki Baumann, and Denis van Beetz, private banking director at Van Lanschot Kempen.

Keith Grose, Coinbase’s UK chief executive officer and regional managing director for the EU and UK, is listed on the program, as is Willem Middelkoop, founder and CEO of Commodity Discovery Fund. Their inclusion points to a conversation extending beyond Bitcoin-native companies toward wealth management, banking services and regulated market access.

A private symposium before the main conference

The BFC Symposium is scheduled for Nov. 4, one day before the public program begins. Organizers describe the closed-door event as a forum for people allocating capital and building corporate Bitcoin reserves.

That format may appeal to treasury executives who are still assessing whether Bitcoin belongs among cash, short-duration securities, gold or other reserve assets. Public companies that hold Bitcoin must manage greater scrutiny than individual holders, particularly when holdings can materially affect reported earnings or market perceptions during sharp price moves.

The supplied event materials cite market reports from September 2026 estimating that nearly 200 public companies hold a combined 1.29 million Bitcoin, valued at more than $100 billion at the time of those reports. The same materials state that global enterprises control roughly 3.3% of Bitcoin’s available supply.

Those figures illustrate why corporate reserve strategies have become a recurring subject at industry events. Large holders can affect the public narrative around supply and long-term ownership, even though treasury purchases alone do not establish a predictable direction for Bitcoin’s market price. Companies may buy gradually, disclose holdings after purchases are completed, sell to meet business needs, or use derivatives and financing structures that are not visible from on-chain transfers.

Market activity requires restraint, not prediction

The conference takes place during the first week of November, a period when market participants may pay close attention to corporate announcements, public remarks from executives and large Bitcoin transfers. Yet the event’s private sessions should not be treated as a signal that purchases will follow.

Bitcoin markets respond to a wide range of factors, including macroeconomic conditions, ETF flows, regulatory decisions, derivatives positioning and changes in risk appetite. A transfer from a known corporate or custodial wallet can indicate internal custody movements just as easily as a new purchase or sale.

The conference materials suggest that large corporate holdings can reduce the amount of Bitcoin readily available for trading when coins are moved into long-term custody. That effect is difficult to measure precisely from exchange balances alone, since Bitcoin can move between platforms, custodians and self-custody addresses without representing a lasting change in sell-side supply.

For traders, the more practical consequence is that high-profile treasury discussions can increase attention and short-term volatility without offering a reliable trading timetable. Leveraged positions are especially vulnerable when markets move on speculation around speaker comments or corporate disclosures rather than confirmed transactions.

BTC Inc. links the event to a wider media and conference network

Bitcoin Amsterdam is operated by BTC Inc., the company behind Bitcoin Magazine, Bitcoin Conference and Bitcoin for Corporations. BTC Inc. is a subsidiary of Nasdaq-listed Nakamoto Inc., which trades under the ticker NAKA and describes itself as a publicly traded Bitcoin company operating a portfolio of Bitcoin-native businesses.

The Amsterdam gathering has become one of the company’s European conference fixtures, and the 2026 edition arrives with a speaker roster that spans protocol contributors, banks, asset managers and corporate executives. That mix places practical questions about custody, reserves and regulation alongside the technical work that underpins Bitcoin’s network.

Tickets, media accreditation and program updates are available through the event’s official website, bitcoin.amsterdam.
