Artmarket com releases free Spanish AI dialogue

2026-11-03 13:00

Artmarket.com has released a complete Spanish edition of Thierry Ehrmann's 1,800-page experimental text, 'Dialogue Between a Thinker and AI,' making the work available as a free download under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 license.

The company said the Spanish-language 'Raw Typescript' edition went live worldwide on Nov. 3 at dialoguebetweenathinkerandai.com/es/. Artmarket.com also said the work had reached 32.4 million open-access downloads across its platforms and wire-distribution channels as of Nov. 1, though it did not provide a platform-by-platform breakdown.

Ehrmann, the founder and chief executive of Groupe Serveur and Artprice by Artmarket.com, created the work through what the company described as 40 days and 40 nights of continuous automatic speech, totaling about 450 hours. The process reportedly used neither written notes nor a teleprompter, producing a text closer to a prolonged spoken record than a conventionally drafted book.

Spanish edition extends an open-access publishing experiment

The release positions the Spanish edition as an expansion into one of the world's largest literary and publishing markets. Artmarket.com cited Spain's 983,209 active titles, attributing the figure to the Federacion de Gremios de Editores de Espana, or FGEE. It also pointed to estimates from CERLALC/UNESCO that Spain and Latin America together publish more than 200,000 new ISBNs each year.

Those figures give the project a substantial linguistic and cultural field to enter, but the format remains unusual. At 1,800 pages, the book is being distributed as a free digital text rather than a commercial print release. The CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 license allows readers to share the work with attribution for non-commercial purposes but restricts modified versions.

Artmarket.com described the Spanish-language rollout as part of a dispute over AI's role in literature and authorship. The company dated that debate, in its account, to Sept. 1, 2026, following the removal of 'C'etait ca ou mourir,' a novel by Haitian-Canadian author Thelyson Orelien.

The publication does not appear designed as a conventional guide to artificial intelligence. Its central premise is the publication of an extended, unfiltered verbal process created by an artist and business executive who has spent decades building art-market databases and archives. That places the project at the intersection of authorship, automated systems, digital archives and contemporary art rather than in the narrower category of AI-generated fiction.

Nine AI systems were used for published critiques

Artmarket.com said the text was submitted for 'meta-reading' and 'meta-critique' to nine AI engines based in the United States, China and Europe. The resulting outputs are posted on the project's English-language meta-reading page.

The company named systems associated with OpenAI, Google, xAI's Grok, Mistral, Microsoft Copilot, DeepSeek, Perplexity, Meta, Anthropic's Claude and Qwen among those referenced in the project. Artmarket.com said the texts on the site are model responses to prompts rather than endorsements, formal assessments or partnerships with the companies behind those systems.

Publishing the models' reactions alongside the underlying work turns AI into part of the book's public reception mechanism. Literary criticism traditionally moves through reviewers, publishers, academics and readers; in this case, the author's organization has added machine-generated commentary directly to the distribution infrastructure.

That approach may appeal to readers interested in how language models interpret long-form experimental writing, though the outputs carry the limitations common to generative AI: they are responses generated from prompts rather than independent editorial judgments. Their value lies less in establishing literary authority than in making the interaction between a human-created text and major AI systems visible.

Artprice's archives shape the project's setting

The release links 'Dialogue Between a Thinker and AI' to La Demeure du Chaos, Ehrmann's long-running contemporary art site in Saint-Romain-au-Mont-d'Or, near Lyon. Artmarket.com described the site as having an underground footprint of 9,000 square meters and said it was recognized by the French Ministry of Culture as a 'Total Work of Art,' or 'Oeuvre d'art totale.'

The company cited a March 20, 2025 announcement by French Culture Minister Rachida Dati and a Dec. 18, 2025 confirmation in the Official Journal of the Senate in connection with that designation.

Artmarket.com's better-known business, Artprice, operates data services focused on the art market. The company said its archives include auction catalogues dating to 1700, while its databases cover more than 930,000 artists and 145 million artwork images. It also cited AI-branded systems including Intuitive Art Market, Blind Spot AI and AIDB Search Artist.

The Spanish edition therefore arrives from a company whose relationship with AI is commercial as well as artistic. Art-market databases depend on organizing vast catalogues of sales, artists, images and historical records, areas where machine-assisted search and classification can affect how users find works and interpret market information. Ehrmann's book gives that technological focus a more philosophical and performative outlet.

December announcement could clarify Artmarket.com's AI plans

Artmarket.com said it is implementing an 'AI-First' strategy from its global headquarters and plans a separate global AI announcement in December 2026. The company provided no further detail on products, partnerships or financial implications.

For now, the Spanish release offers a public-facing example of how Artmarket.com is presenting that strategy: combining its art-world identity, large historical datasets and AI-oriented language around publishing and criticism. The project also extends the company's distribution model beyond art-market information into freely accessible cultural material built for online circulation.

The result is an unconventional publishing launch with an unusually large claimed download figure, a long-form spoken manuscript and AI-generated readings placed beside the text. Its next phase will depend less on the scale of the release than on whether Artmarket.com's December plans translate its AI language into specific tools or services for the art market.
