Perpetual futures|What is the breakeven price?

1. What is the breakeven price?

The breakeven price reflects the actual P&L break-even level for your current position, taking into account all associated costs (Realized P&L, open/close fees, and funding fee). This price is dynamically updated whenever you increase, reduce, or realize P&L, so it always reflects the true break-even level of your position. For long positions, a negative breakeven price indicates that the position has accumulated sufficient realized profits; for short positions, a negative value is normal and indicates that the theoretical breakeven level falls below zero.

2. Features of breakeven price

  • Dynamic updates: Updates dynamically based on partial closes, realized P&L, and market changes.

  • Use cases: Users with partially realized profits can use BEP as a reference when adjusting take-profit and stop-loss levels.

  • Real-time calculation: Automatically recalculates as realized P&L and position size change.

Example: Dynamic update of breakeven price

Suppose you open a long position of 10 ETH at an entry price of 2,300 USDT, with an initial BEP of 2,300.05 USDT (including trading fees and funding fees).

After partially closing 4 ETH and realizing profits, the BEP of the remaining position automatically adjusts to 2,300.01 USDT.

The breakeven price dynamically updates with market fluctuations and partial position closures, helping users manage TP/SL levels more effectively.

3. How to view the breakeven price

1. Open the trading page

Access the Futures trading interface on the app or website and locate your positions list.

2. View breakeven price

The BEP for each position is displayed in the position details section. Click on the position to view more details.

4. Trigger conditions and updates

  • BEP automatically updates after opening, adding, reducing, or partially closing positions.

  • Realized P&L, trading fees, and funding costs are included in the calculation.

  • When take-profit or stop-loss orders are triggered and executed, BEP recalculates for the remaining position.

Risk Warning

Breakeven price is provided for reference only. Actual profits and losses are affected by market volatility, trading fees, funding costs, and execution quality. Users should trade according to their risk tolerance and strategies, and manage TP/SL levels prudently.
