TapeOut, a BNB Chain project that turns simple digital logic components into on-chain circuit NFTs, saw a sharp rise in attention after Binance co-founder Zhao Changpeng engaged with posts from its 16-year-old developer, who uses the online name Blonskr. The reaction pushed already fully minted “transistor” tokens into active secondary-market trading, with one Behemoth component reaching 17 times its original mint price.
Blonskr announced Behemoth, described as a blockchain-based CPU, on Aug. 15 and connected it to TapeOut Protocol, a framework intended for creators building hardware-themed applications on-chain. Interest was initially limited, but activity accelerated the following day after Zhao commented on posts about the project and followed Blonskr’s social-media account.
The episode shows how quickly a small experimental application can gain liquidity on BNB Chain when it combines a recognizable technical theme, constrained token supply and attention from a prominent industry figure. TapeOut’s market activity has centered on the components needed to create circuits rather than the completed circuit NFTs themselves.
Logic components became the traded asset
TapeOut uses existing Ethereum Virtual Machine token formats rather than introducing a new standard. Its basic components are ERC-1155 tokens, a multi-token format suited to issuing many units of the same asset. The completed circuit designs are minted as ERC-721 NFTs, which represent individual items.
The protocol divides its component tokens into two categories: NAND and LATCH. In conventional computing, NAND gates are basic logic gates capable of forming more complex digital operations, while latches are used to retain binary states. TapeOut presents these elements as collectible, usable building blocks rather than as abstract token categories.
Users can mint or purchase the component tokens, arrange them on a circuit-building canvas and “tape out” the design on-chain. In semiconductor development, tape-out refers to sending a finalized chip design for manufacturing. In TapeOut’s version, completing that process mints a circuit NFT that appears in the user’s on-chain holdings.
Published TapeOut marketplace figures showed 1,300 BNB in trading volume during the most recent 24-hour period cited in the source material, equivalent to roughly $800,000 at the stated BNB price. The trading came through the project’s on-chain order-book marketplace for transistor tokens.
Behemoth NAND tokens reached 0.0085 BNB in secondary trading, compared with a 0.0005 BNB mint price, according to the platform figures. That represents a 17-fold increase. Behemoth LATCH tokens rose around 13 times above their mint price.
Both the Behemoth and TapeOut component supplies had already been fully minted, leaving secondary purchases as the route for new participants. That structure can concentrate demand in a relatively small market, particularly when buyers need specific token types and quantities to produce a circuit NFT.
Circuit NFTs require tokens to be burned
TapeOut’s mechanics create a direct relationship between the component-token market and NFT creation. Each circuit NFT collection can set its own token requirements, and users must burn the required NAND and LATCH tokens when minting a circuit.
Burning means permanently removing the tokens from circulation. A collection that requires a larger number of components would therefore consume more of the available supply, though the effect depends on how many users choose to mint completed circuits rather than trade the underlying parts.
The protocol also allows users to create their own circuit NFT collections. A creator can define the collection’s supply, select the required transistor tokens and set mint prices for those components. That design gives TapeOut a user-generated layer: participants are not limited to assembling circuits under rules set by the original developer.
The approach differs from many NFT projects where the collectible is the primary product from the outset. TapeOut places its initial trading emphasis on the parts used to make an item. Circuit NFTs are the output of a construction process, while the transistor tokens function as both inputs and tradable assets.
No dedicated marketplace for completed TapeOut circuit NFTs was described as live in the supplied materials. As a result, current price discovery appears concentrated in the transistor-token order book rather than in sales of finished circuit designs.
Mining-machine feature remains in design
TapeOut also describes a separate feature allowing ERC-1155 component tokens to be burned in exchange for an NFT “mining machine.” The NFT output element was not live at the time covered by the source material and remained in the design stage.
That distinction places limits on what can be concluded from the early price movement. The Behemoth and TapeOut components have demonstrated demand as scarce, socially visible tokens, but the utility attached to future mining-machine NFTs has not yet been tested in a live product.
The project’s hardware language may also narrow its immediate audience. Assembling NAND and LATCH components into a circuit introduces an educational element that could appeal to users interested in computing concepts, while creating a steeper learning curve for those unfamiliar with basic digital logic.
Blonskr’s age and background have added to the project’s narrative. A separate post cited in the supplied material described the developer as 16 years old and previously focused on smaller application-development projects. Zhao’s interaction rapidly gave that early-stage work exposure beyond its initial community.
For TapeOut, the next measure of durability will be whether users continue building and minting circuits after the social-media-driven surge, rather than solely exchanging the scarce components. The protocol’s token-burning model gives completed designs a potential role in reducing component supply, but that depends on active creation and on whether users find the circuit-building experience worth returning to.
