US spot Bitcoin ETFs log $528 million inflows

2026-10-22 07:57

ETFBTC

US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds absorbed $528 million in net inflows on Wednesday, extending a three-day buying streak to $1.08 billion and reversing part of the pressure created by two consecutive weeks of withdrawals.

The latest inflows arrived as Bitcoin briefly traded above $84,700 before retreating. CoinGecko recorded an intraday high of $84,777 on Wednesday, followed by a decline to $82,485 at the time the market data was reported. The combination of strong fund subscriptions and a limited price advance points to a market where ETF demand is being met by ample supply rather than triggering an immediate breakout.

SoSoValue data showed that Wednesday’s $528 million intake followed $526.6 million of net inflows on Monday and $23 million on Tuesday. The three sessions brought October’s cumulative net inflows for US spot Bitcoin ETFs to roughly $461 million, while year-to-date net inflows reached about $1.34 billion, according to the platform.

Blackrock and Fidelity drove Wednesday’s demand

BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin trust, trading under the ticker IBIT, accounted for the largest share of Wednesday’s activity. Farside Investors reported $235 million of net inflows into IBIT, keeping BlackRock’s fund at the center of the latest wave of demand.

Fidelity’s Wise Origin Bitcoin fund, known as FBTC, followed closely with approximately $213 million in net inflows, according to Farside Investors. Together, the two products represented more than four-fifths of the day’s reported $528 million total.

The concentration of demand in IBIT and FBTC reflects the structure of the US spot Bitcoin ETF market, where a small group of large issuers regularly capture most of the daily flows. That concentration can make headline figures more volatile: a large allocation into one or two funds may sharply lift total inflows, while redemptions from the same products can quickly reverse the picture.

SoSoValue listed the combined net assets of US spot Bitcoin ETFs at $105.46 billion. Net assets measure the value of Bitcoin held by the funds after accounting for their shares and market prices, rather than representing cumulative cash deposited since launch.

The rebound follows two weeks of redemptions

The three-day inflow run came after a distinctly weaker period for the funds. US spot Bitcoin ETFs posted $228 million in net withdrawals during the previous week and $681 million in the week before that, according to the figures provided by SoSoValue.

Those two weekly outflows totaled $909 million, leaving the latest $1.08 billion streak only modestly ahead of the money that exited during the preceding fortnight. The comparison gives the recent rebound more context: the funds have recovered the bulk of the earlier withdrawals, but the flow pattern remains sensitive to daily changes in market sentiment.

ETF flows are commonly watched as a measure of demand through regulated brokerage accounts, retirement platforms and traditional fund channels. They do not provide a complete view of Bitcoin buying and selling across exchanges, derivatives markets, private funds, custodians and over-the-counter desks. A day of strong ETF inflows can coincide with selling elsewhere, particularly when existing Bitcoin holders use higher prices or new institutional demand to reduce exposure.

That dynamic may help explain why Bitcoin’s move above $84,700 did not hold through the session despite the large reported inflow total. Fund issuers generally acquire or sell Bitcoin through authorized participants to meet changes in ETF share demand, but the effect on the market depends on liquidity conditions and activity across multiple trading venues.

Ether, Solana and XRP products also ended outflow streaks

US spot Ether ETFs recorded $15 million in net inflows on Wednesday, according to SoSoValue, ending a five-session run of outflows. The amount was far smaller than the Bitcoin ETF total, indicating that the day’s buying was concentrated in Bitcoin-linked products rather than spread evenly across the largest digital assets.

US spot Solana ETFs posted about $585,000 in net inflows after 13 days of outflows, while US spot XRP ETFs added roughly $709,000, SoSoValue data showed. The relatively small additions in those products suggest that flows into alternative-asset funds remained tentative even as Bitcoin ETFs attracted a substantially larger allocation.

The divergence also comes after a reported $103 million single-day withdrawal from funds tracking Ether, underlining how quickly flows can rotate between products when traders reassess risk exposure. Bitcoin’s larger, more established US ETF market has tended to attract the greatest attention during periods of volatility, while smaller products can see thinner and less consistent activity.

Price and flows remain linked, but not identical

Bitcoin’s retreat from its intraday high leaves the market with a mixed signal. The ETF figures show renewed demand following nearly $1 billion of weekly outflows, while the price action shows that buyers have not yet established sustained control above the day’s peak.

The next daily flow reports will help determine whether Wednesday represented the start of a more durable allocation trend or a short-term response after the earlier withdrawal period. A continued run of inflows would add to the recovery in October’s cumulative figures; renewed redemptions would quickly test whether the latest buying was enough to absorb selling pressure in the broader Bitcoin market.
