Robinhood expands prediction markets with Crypto.com OG.com

2026-09-08 17:02

Futures

Robinhood is expanding its prediction-markets operation through new partnerships with Crypto.com and OG.com, adding another venue for event-contract order routing as the company prepares a larger lineup of football, election and other real-world markets for the 2026 NFL season.

Under the arrangement, Robinhood said selected event contracts will be routed to OG.com, while the company will also take equity stakes in both Crypto.com and OG.com. Robinhood said the stakes would be valued in line with Crypto.com’s recent $20 billion valuation following an investment by Citadel Securities.

The move broadens a prediction-markets network that already routes contracts to Kalshi, ForecastEX and Rothera. Robinhood said the new setup would give customers access to a wider selection of contracts, starting with football-related markets that cover game outcomes, player performance and custom combinations.

Prediction markets have become a larger revenue source for Robinhood than cryptocurrency trading, according to the company’s second-quarter results. Robinhood reported 13.6 billion event contracts traded during the quarter, including 5 billion connected to the World Cup. It said prediction markets generated roughly $156 million in revenue, up 50% from the previous quarter, and out-earned its crypto business for the first time.

More venues, more contract selection

Robinhood’s model differs from running a single in-house event marketplace. By routing customer activity across several platforms, it can offer contracts from multiple sources while retaining a unified retail interface.

The addition of OG.com gives Robinhood another destination for orders alongside Kalshi, ForecastEX and Rothera. That could allow Robinhood to list a more varied set of sports and political contracts without depending on one venue’s product catalogue or market-making capacity.

The company did not specify which football contracts would be routed to OG.com or how orders would be divided among its partner platforms. It said users would see a broader menu this season, including markets linked to individual players and combinations of outcomes.

Those combinations could appeal to customers seeking contracts more specific than a simple winner-and-loser market. A user might, for example, look for markets tied to multiple events within the same game, though Robinhood did not detail the precise contract designs planned for the launch.

Robinhood framed the rollout around the NFL calendar, where weekly games provide a recurring stream of high-profile events. Sports contracts can produce activity throughout a season rather than concentrating trading around isolated events such as an election night or championship match.

Crypto.com deal follows reported talks

The partnership formalizes discussions that had already drawn attention earlier in the year. The Wall Street Journal reported in July that Robinhood and Crypto.com were discussing a potential prediction-markets arrangement.

Robinhood’s announcement links the commercial relationship to an equity component, with stakes in both Crypto.com and OG.com. The company said their value would track Crypto.com’s $20 billion valuation following Citadel Securities’ investment.

The equity stakes give Robinhood a financial connection to two firms involved in its expanding event-contract offering. They also extend the company’s relationships beyond the routing agreements used to bring products from Kalshi, ForecastEX and Rothera to its customers.

Crypto.com operates a substantial consumer-facing digital-asset business, while OG.com is being added specifically as an event-contract routing partner. Robinhood did not provide the size of its stakes, the terms of the investments or a timetable for completing them.

Prediction revenue overtakes crypto trading

Robinhood’s second-quarter figures show why the company is devoting more product space to event contracts. The platform recorded 13.6 billion contracts traded in the quarter, according to Robinhood, with World Cup-related markets accounting for more than one-third of that total at 5 billion contracts.

The company said that activity produced about $156 million in revenue, a 50% increase from the first quarter. Robinhood also said its prediction-markets business generated more revenue than its crypto business during the period.

That comparison marks a change in the company’s revenue mix. Crypto trading has been an established part of Robinhood’s business, but event contracts now offer another form of transaction-driven income that is tied to sports schedules, political campaigns and other major public events.

The data does not establish that customers are abandoning digital assets for event contracts. Trading demand can vary sharply by quarter, particularly when cryptocurrency prices are moving slowly or major sports and political events generate elevated participation. Yet the scale of Robinhood’s reported contract volume shows that prediction markets have developed into a material business line rather than a limited product experiment.

Election hub adds political-market tools

Robinhood also plans to introduce a dedicated election hub that will use interactive heat maps to display candidate performance. After polls close, the hub will show the number of votes counted and the percentage of expected total votes represented by those results.

The design would place live election data alongside political event contracts, giving users a clearer view of how partial results are developing during vote counts. Reporting the share of expected votes counted may help users distinguish between early returns and results that reflect a larger portion of the electorate.

Election-related contracts are likely to test Robinhood’s expanded distribution system, especially if political markets draw the sort of volume seen during major sporting events. They also place the company in a more direct contest for retail attention with established prediction-market platforms that have built their audiences around political outcomes.

Robinhood’s approach is increasingly built around making event contracts a permanent feature of its trading app, supported by multiple market venues and timed around recurring sports and election calendars. The coming football rollout will offer the first indication of whether the enlarged partner network translates into deeper contract selection and sustained customer activity beyond individual global events.
