Multiliquid has launched a treasury-management product designed to let institutions earn a return linked to the three-month U.S. Treasury bill rate while retaining around-the-clock access to cash or stablecoins. The service, Multiliquid Treasury, is available on Ethereum mainnet and Solana and promises single-block atomic settlement for redemptions, including during weekends, holidays and overnight hours.
The company is targeting corporate treasuries, fintech firms and asset managers that maintain large operating balances for payroll, supplier payments, margin and other short-notice obligations. Those balances are often held in bank accounts or other highly liquid vehicles that produce little or no return, while conventional money market funds generally operate with business-day dealing cycles and redemption cut-off times.
Multiliquid said its product offers an indicative annual percentage yield of up to 3.5%, calculated through a formula tied to the three-month Treasury bill rate. Users can deposit and redeem through cash or stablecoins, with the platform presenting the product as a way to keep operating capital available without leaving it entirely idle.
Treasury exposure through a Delaware SPV
Deposits into Multiliquid Treasury are routed through Uniform Treasury SPV, LLC, a Delaware special-purpose vehicle that Multiliquid describes as bankruptcy remote. Institutions using the product act as lenders to that SPV rather than directly owning the underlying fund positions.
The SPV allocates reserves programmatically across tokenized government-focused funds, according to Multiliquid. The company named the WisdomTree Government Money Market Digital Fund, known as WTGXX, and the Janus Henderson Anemoy Treasury Fund, known as JTRSY, among the portfolio's intended holdings. Multiliquid lists the funds as AAAf/S1+, ratings commonly used for money-market fund credit quality and liquidity assessments.
That structure places Multiliquid Treasury in the growing segment of tokenized cash-management products built around short-duration government debt. The products seek to combine the underlying income profile of Treasury bills, repurchase agreements and money-market instruments with blockchain-based transfer and settlement infrastructure.
The distinction is particularly relevant for companies whose cash needs do not follow market hours. A business may need to move collateral, meet a margin requirement or pay a contractor outside the operating schedule of a bank or fund administrator. Multiliquid says a redemption requested at 2:00 a.m. on a Sunday is intended to settle through the same system used during a weekday.
Liquidity buffer supports instant redemption model
Multiliquid said it maintains a programmatic liquidity buffer equal to 5% to 10% of assets to support immediate redemptions under normal market conditions. The buffer is supplemented by institutional repurchase-agreement, or repo, lines, which are designed to provide additional short-term liquidity against eligible collateral.
The size and operation of that buffer will be central to how the product performs during periods of heavy withdrawals. Tokenized Treasury funds may settle on public blockchains continuously, but their underlying assets and banking connections can still rely on traditional market infrastructure. Multiliquid's approach attempts to bridge that gap by holding part of the portfolio in readily available liquidity and using repo facilities to reinforce it.
The company said reserves and fund allocations are designed to be visible on-chain in real time. That could give users a more immediate view of portfolio positioning than is typically available through conventional cash-management products, although the practical value of that visibility will depend on how frequently the data are updated and how the underlying assets are represented.
Multiliquid also said its settlement smart contracts were audited by Cantina and Zellic. Smart-contract reviews can identify coding vulnerabilities, but they do not remove exposure to liquidity management, counterparty arrangements, underlying fund performance or the legal structure of the SPV.
A cash-management product rather than a trading vehicle
Multiliquid frames the launch around operating cash, rather than cryptocurrency trading. Its product is intended for institutions that want to keep funds available for routine payments while generating a Treasury-linked return. The company said there is no minimum deposit requirement for eligible users.
Using the company's illustration, a firm holding $25 million in liquid reserves could generate up to roughly $875,000 annually at a 3.5% annualized rate, assuming the balance remained deployed throughout the year and the indicative rate held. Actual returns would depend on the Treasury-bill-linked formula, underlying fund expenses, portfolio allocation and other terms of the program.
That example also shows why treasury teams may be interested in tokenized short-term debt even without seeking crypto-market exposure. A large operating balance can create a substantial opportunity cost when it sits in a non-interest-bearing account, particularly for businesses that routinely maintain eight-figure liquidity cushions.
Multiliquid said both U.S. and international accredited institutions are eligible, subject to its onboarding requirements. The company expects typical onboarding to take less than 24 hours through a consolidated Know Your Business and Know Your Customer process covering the underlying portfolio.
APIs and smart contracts target treasury workflows
The service is available through developer APIs, a web application, a software development kit and direct smart-contract interaction. Multiliquid also provides a dashboard for manual execution, allowing firms to choose between integrating treasury movements into internal systems or managing transactions through a browser interface.
Those access options could make the product more useful for fintech platforms and firms that already automate cash sweeps, collateral transfers or stablecoin settlement. A treasury system could, in principle, move excess balances into the product during lower-demand periods and redeem them when payment obligations arise, subject to the platform's operational terms and available liquidity.
The launch arrives as tokenized U.S. government debt has become one of the more active areas of blockchain-based finance. Public blockchain data platforms have tracked rapid growth in the value of tokenized Treasury products, as asset managers and financial-technology companies look for ways to place dollar balances in government-backed instruments without losing blockchain settlement capabilities.
Multiliquid Treasury's appeal will depend less on the headline yield than on whether it can consistently meet its promise of fast redemptions while maintaining transparent reserves and reliable connections to the underlying cash markets. For institutions managing payroll, vendor obligations and collateral, access to liquidity outside conventional business hours is the feature that separates a tokenized treasury product from a standard money-market allocation.
