HashKey partners with RD Technologies for RDUSD

2026-11-02 06:10

HashKey On-Chain and Hong Kong-based RD Technologies plan to test and deploy RDUSD, a US dollar stablecoin intended for cross-border trade settlement, corporate treasury operations and tokenized-asset transactions. The partnership would place RDUSD on HSK Chain and connect it to HashKey's trading, trade-finance and settlement platforms, extending the token's proposed use beyond crypto-market activity into business payment workflows.

The arrangement remains focused on testing, technical integration and phased deployment rather than immediate large-scale commercial use. Its design centers on familiar corporate finance processes paying suppliers, settling trades, managing cash balances and exchanging tokenized assets where cross-border transfers can involve multiple banking intermediaries, restricted operating hours and reconciliation work.

RDUSD is supported by RD Technologies and issued by Anchorage Digital Bank N.A., according to the companies' announcement. Anchorage Digital Bank is federally chartered in the United States and describes itself as the first federally chartered digital asset bank in the country. RD Technologies said RDUSD is designed to comply with the US framework established under the GENIUS Act.

Rdusd targets settlement across HashKey platforms

The first planned deployment will put RDUSD on HSK Chain, an Ethereum Layer 2 network operated within the HashKey On-Chain ecosystem. Layer 2 networks process transactions outside Ethereum's main chain before anchoring records back to it, a structure intended to lower fees and increase transaction capacity while retaining a link to Ethereum.

HashKey On-Chain said HSK Chain has more than 200 projects in its ecosystem and over $300 million in on-chain real-world assets. Those assets include tokenized money-market funds, exchange-traded funds and precious metals, according to the company.

The proposed RDUSD integration would give applications on the network a dollar-denominated settlement asset for lending, trading, subscriptions to tokenized real-world assets and other transfers. That could make the network's tokenized products easier to transact in without requiring users to move between separate payment rails or settle every transaction through a traditional bank transfer.

The partnership also arrives after HSK Chain established a CeDeFi arrangement with lending protocol Morpho aimed at bringing institutional funds and on-chain yield products to the network. CeDeFi generally refers to structures that combine decentralized blockchain applications with centralized compliance, custody or onboarding processes. RDUSD could become a settlement component for those applications if the proposed integrations reach production.

Trade-finance plan focuses on delivery-versus-payment

HashKey and RD Technologies outlined three initial paths for bringing RDUSD into HashKey On-Chain products. The first is the HashKey Trading Portal, where the stablecoin is expected to support settlement connected to tokenized real-world asset products.

A second path involves the HashKey On-Chain Trade Finance Platform. The companies plan to explore using RDUSD for around-the-clock clearing and settlement in cross-border import and export activity. The proposal includes delivery-versus-payment, or DvP, transactions involving tokenized trade assets such as electronic bills of lading.

DvP is a settlement mechanism designed to ensure that payment and asset delivery occur together. In conventional trade finance, a buyer may need assurance that shipping documents or goods-related claims will be transferred only once payment is made, while a seller needs confidence that payment will not be withheld after those documents are released. Recording both sides of the exchange in a coordinated on-chain process could reduce reconciliation steps, though its effectiveness would depend on how legal documentation, identity checks and off-chain delivery obligations are connected to the system.

The third planned connection is the HashKey Settlement Platform. The partners said they will work on settlement-protocol links for collections, payments and settlement services used by multinational companies and cross-border payment providers. Proposed functions include cash pooling, which allows companies to consolidate cash positions across units or jurisdictions, and disbursement channels.

The announcement also refers to potential automated payments by artificial intelligence agents. Such payments would require controls over authorization, spending limits, identity and compliance, particularly where corporate funds or trade obligations are involved. The partnership does not specify how those controls would be implemented.

Asia-focused corporate use is the commercial test

RD Technologies said the initiative is aimed particularly at cross-border institutions in Asia and companies with trade-payment and treasury-management needs. That focus places the project in one of the stablecoin market's more difficult use cases regulated business transfers involving commercial documentation, foreign counterparties and potentially multiple legal jurisdictions.

Stablecoins have been widely used in digital-asset trading, but corporate settlement requires more than fast token transfers. Businesses generally need reliable redemption arrangements, transaction records, compliance screening, accounting treatment and systems that can connect to existing payment and enterprise software. The partnership's emphasis on technical development and multi-platform integration suggests that those operational links, rather than the issuance of the token alone, will determine whether RDUSD gains practical use.

Anchorage's role as issuer could be relevant to firms seeking a stablecoin structure connected to a federally regulated US banking entity. RD Technologies' participation in the Hong Kong Monetary Authority's Stablecoin Issuer Sandbox also places the project alongside Hong Kong's effort to examine stablecoin issuance under a supervised framework. RD Technologies said it has raised more than $90 million in total funding.

Tokenized assets need usable settlement currency

The project ties together two parts of on-chain finance that are often developed separately tokenized real-world assets and dollar-based settlement. A tokenized fund, trade claim or commodity instrument may be transferable on a blockchain, but corporate users still need a dependable method to pay for it, receive proceeds and manage balances after the transaction.

Using the same network for the asset and payment leg could simplify settlement for products issued or distributed within the HashKey ecosystem. It would also concentrate operational dependence on the chain's applications, the stablecoin issuer's redemption framework and the compliance controls used by participating firms.

RDUSD's rollout will therefore be measured less by an initial chain deployment than by whether it can support actual settlement volumes in the trading portal, trade-finance platform and corporate payment connections described by the partners. The planned integrations place the token in workflows where reliability, legal enforceability and treasury connectivity matter as much as transaction speed.
