Evernorth Holdings plans to begin deploying part of its 473 million XRP treasury through institutional trading and financing strategies in the fourth quarter, moving the newly Nasdaq-listed company beyond simply holding the token as a balance-sheet asset.
The company said it will work with Ripple, Kraken, Coinbase and BitGo on the program, which will be overseen by chief investment officer Hugo Jeandesboz, formerly co-chief investment officer at Coinbase Asset Management. Evernorth did not disclose the initial size of the XRP allocation or detail the precise strategies it will use.
At current XRP prices, Evernorth values its holdings at roughly $648 million. The program is designed to seek additional returns from those reserves, potentially increasing the amount of XRP backing each share if the strategies perform as intended. It also introduces risks that do not apply to a passive treasury, including counterparty exposure, liquidity constraints and potential losses from lending or other market activity.
Treasury deployment follows Nasdaq debut
The announcement arrived two days after Evernorth began trading on Nasdaq under the ticker XRPN, following its merger with Armada Acquisition Corp. II, a special purpose acquisition company. Evernorth is scheduled to ring the Nasdaq closing bell on Wednesday afternoon.
XRPN opened Monday at $16.68 and closed Tuesday at $16.48, according to the figures provided by the company. Shares changed hands at $16.60 in after-hours trading.
Evernorth entered the public market with a structure that could make the stock particularly sensitive to short-term order flows. About 80.3% of Armada Acquisition Corp. II shareholders redeemed their shares for cash rather than remain invested through the merger, leaving a reported public float of about 4.5 million shares.
A limited number of freely tradable shares can amplify movements when buying or selling interest changes quickly. The company’s share price may therefore diverge sharply from changes in XRP itself, especially during the first period of public trading, when a small float can give individual orders more influence over the market.
XRP’s decline has reduced the treasury’s reported value
Evernorth’s XRP strategy also starts after a substantial decline in the token’s market price from the level used in earlier deal discussions. XRP was trading around $2.37 when the original transaction terms were established late last year, according to the supplied information, compared with a recent range near $1.34.
On the company’s reported holding of 473 million XRP, the move from $2.37 to $1.34 represents a reduction in implied market value of roughly $488 million. The stated $648 million current valuation points to a slightly higher reference price than $1.34, illustrating how quickly the marked value of such a large token reserve can change with relatively modest moves in XRP.
That price exposure remains central to the company’s financial profile. Even if Evernorth generates income through its planned institutional program, the economic value of its treasury will continue to be driven primarily by the market price of XRP unless the company materially changes the size or composition of its holdings.
The transaction also left Evernorth with about $300 million in cash, according to the supplied information. That capital could fund operations and treasury initiatives without requiring an immediate sale of XRP into a weakened market, though the company has not outlined how much of that cash it intends to dedicate to the new program.
Lending and XRPL DeFi are longer-term goals
Evernorth said its initial institutional deployment will eventually extend into lending and credit markets on the XRP Ledger. The XRP Ledger, often called XRPL, is the blockchain associated with XRP and supports token issuance, payments and decentralized applications.
The company’s longer-range plan includes using decentralized-finance functions on XRPL as those capabilities become available. DeFi refers to blockchain-based financial applications that can facilitate activities such as lending, borrowing and trading through smart-contract systems rather than conventional intermediaries.
That expansion is more conditional than the fourth-quarter institutional program. Evernorth tied its XRPL DeFi plans to the availability of the necessary functions, leaving the timeline and scope of onchain activity open.
Jeandesboz’s appointment places responsibility for the transition with an executive whose previous role involved institutional crypto asset management at Coinbase Asset Management. His task will involve balancing the search for returns against the need to preserve liquidity and manage risks around a treasury whose value is already closely tied to one volatile digital asset.
Shareholders will be watching treasury value and execution
Evernorth gives public-market traders another route to gain exposure to XRP, but XRPN is unlikely to function as a simple proxy for the token. Its market price will reflect XRP’s value, the company’s cash position, the performance and risks of its treasury strategies, operating costs, and the supply-and-demand dynamics created by its small public float.
The company has not said how it will report returns from the institutional program, what portion of gains might be retained in XRP, or whether it will establish a formal target for XRP per share. Those details will shape whether traders can assess the program as a meaningful source of treasury growth or as a limited supplement to XRP price exposure.
For now, Evernorth’s plan places a newly public, XRP-focused treasury company into a more active role in crypto markets. Its results will depend less on the announcement itself than on how much capital it deploys, which counterparties and products it uses, and whether returns can offset the volatility that has already cut deeply into the market value of its holdings.
