Eightco Holdings Inc. said it held about $380 million in private-company equity, digital assets, cash and stablecoins as of Sept. 2, while repurchasing more than 25 million common shares in the past month under its existing $125 million buyback authorization.
The Nasdaq-listed company’s portfolio places substantial weight on Worldcoin’s WLD token and indirect exposure to OpenAI, combining a large cryptocurrency position with stakes in prominent artificial-intelligence and consumer-internet businesses. Eightco reported holding 301,971,219 WLD, or roughly 8.3% of the token’s circulating supply, alongside 16,278 Ether and about $122 million in cash and stablecoins.
At the company’s stated WLD price of $0.37 per token, the Worldcoin position was worth about $112 million. Eightco described the holding as nearly 302 million WLD and said it accounted for roughly 29% of treasury assets. That makes WLD one of the company’s largest reported positions and gives its treasury disclosures unusual relevance for token-market participants monitoring potential changes in ownership concentration.
OpenAI exposure accounts for nearly a quarter of reported assets
Eightco reported a $90 million indirect equity position in OpenAI held through special purpose vehicles, representing about 24% of its treasury assets under the company’s calculations. Special purpose vehicles are separate legal entities commonly used to pool capital for investments in private companies, allowing participants to obtain economic exposure without directly appearing on a company’s cap table.
The company also disclosed an $18 million funded equity position in Beast Industries, the business associated with YouTube creator Jimmy Donaldson, known as MrBeast. That holding represented about 5% of treasury assets, according to Eightco. A further $1 million was allocated to Mythical Games, a blockchain gaming company.
The disclosed figures show a portfolio built around several high-profile technology themes: generative AI through OpenAI-linked vehicles, online media through Beast Industries, blockchain gaming through Mythical Games, and digital identity through Worldcoin. The mix also leaves Eightco exposed to assets with very different liquidity profiles. Cash, stablecoins and exchange-traded cryptocurrencies can generally be valued and moved more readily than stakes in private companies, whose prices are often based on financing rounds or internal estimates rather than continuous public-market trading.
Eightco did not provide a valuation for its Ether position in the summary of holdings. Its stated $380 million total incorporates the Ether balance, WLD position, private-company stakes, cash and stablecoins.
Buyback reduces the public share count
The repurchase of more than 25 million common shares came through a previously announced $125 million program. Companies typically use repurchases to reduce the number of shares outstanding, which can increase each remaining share’s claim on corporate assets if the value of those assets holds steady.
For Eightco, the buyback also comes as the company holds a treasury portfolio that includes assets subject to changing market prices. The value of its WLD and Ether holdings may move independently of its operating business, while valuations assigned to OpenAI-linked vehicles, Beast Industries and Mythical Games are likely to depend on private-market developments.
The WLD allocation is particularly concentrated relative to the circulating supply. Eightco’s reported 8.3% position does not establish control over the World network or its token ecosystem, but it means a single public company holds a material share of tokens available in the market. Any future buying, selling, transfers, collateral arrangements or custody changes involving such a position could draw close attention from WLD traders.
World makes identity toolkit available to outside developers
World, the digital identity project linked to World ID and the WLD token, announced on Sept. 2 that it had open-sourced ProveKit, a zero-knowledge identity proving toolkit previously built into World ID.
Zero-knowledge proofs are cryptographic methods that allow someone to demonstrate a claim without revealing the underlying personal data. In World’s proposed use case, a person could prove that they are a verified human without disclosing their name, address or other identifying information to the application requesting the proof.
World said ProveKit would be available to developers outside its own ecosystem. The release could give external applications a way to integrate human-verification checks while relying on World ID’s underlying approach to privacy-preserving credentials.
The announcement follows an Aug. 21 partnership between peaqOS and World ID, which said they planned to enable “Proof of Human” checks for robots and machines. The companies described a system intended to let a person verify their humanity without revealing identifying details. Such systems are being developed as online services seek ways to distinguish users from automated accounts without requiring conventional identity documents for every interaction.
For Eightco, the development provides product context for its large WLD exposure, though the company’s token holdings do not themselves determine whether outside developers adopt ProveKit or World ID.
AI funding links remain in focus
OpenAI-related developments have also continued to shape the backdrop for Eightco’s indirect equity exposure. OpenAI said on Aug. 31 that ChatGPT Ads had reached a $1 billion annualized revenue run rate less than 200 days after launch and was being used by tens of thousands of advertisers.
The company also said it supported California Senate Bill 1119, legislation related to youth AI safety. The measure forms part of a growing policy debate over how AI companies should address minors’ use of increasingly capable consumer tools.
Separately, SB Energy, an AI power infrastructure company backed by SoftBank, OpenAI and Nvidia, filed on Sept. 1 for a potential initial public offering. In its filing, SB Energy said it was “substantially dependent” on OpenAI’s performance because OpenAI is both a tenant and an equity investor.
That filing illustrates how demand for AI computing is tying together model developers, power providers, data-center infrastructure and private capital. Eightco’s reported assets sit across several parts of that network, though its direct holdings are concentrated in WLD, cash reserves and private-company equity vehicles rather than infrastructure assets.
Eightco also said it previously participated in the World Foundation’s $52.5 million funding round, which the company said was led by Pantera and included Bain Capital Crypto, Selini Capital and Susquehanna Crypto.
