Abu Dhabi Finance Week 2026 expands agenda and attendance

2026-09-25 11:27

Abu Dhabi Finance Week is set to return from December 7 to 10, 2026, with organisers saying more than 300 chief executives and chairmen have already confirmed attendance, representing institutions with more than $61 trillion in assets. Hosted by Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), the event is positioning tokenisation, stablecoins, artificial intelligence and cross-border financial regulation alongside the traditional priorities of private markets, asset management and wealth.

The fifth edition will be held under the patronage of Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council. Organisers said the confirmed asset base puts the event on course to surpass the $62 trillion represented at the 2025 gathering, although the final attendance total has not yet been announced.

Under the theme “The Capital Community, Powered by Partnerships,” Abu Dhabi Finance Week plans to expand its programme from 60 events across six stages last year to 75 events across eight stages in 2026. The larger schedule reflects ADGM’s effort to bring financial institutions, policymakers, technology companies and infrastructure groups into the same forum as digital-asset rules move from pilot projects toward formal market frameworks.

Tokenisation and stablecoins move into the main agenda

Digital assets will receive a dedicated place on the third day of the programme, which is scheduled to focus on AI, fintech, digital assets and financial innovation. Organisers have listed stablecoins, tokenisation, AI’s effect on financial markets and regulatory innovation among the planned discussion topics.

That agenda places digital money within a broader capital-markets conversation rather than treating it as a standalone cryptocurrency sector. Tokenisation generally involves recording ownership or claims on assets, such as funds, bonds, real estate or private credit, on a blockchain or similar distributed ledger. Financial firms have increasingly explored the structure as a way to automate record-keeping, settlement and ownership transfers, though legal enforceability, custody and interoperability remain practical constraints.

The Global Financial Regulators Summit, expected to bring together regulators from more than 50 countries, is also due to address tokenisation and the development of global financial frameworks. The planned participation gives the event a policy dimension at a period when jurisdictions are pursuing different approaches to stablecoin issuance, blockchain-based securities and digital-asset supervision.

For cryptocurrency businesses and traders, the agenda offers a useful signal of where institutional attention is concentrating: regulated payment instruments, tokenised real-world assets and the infrastructure that connects them to existing banking and capital-markets systems. It does not amount to a commitment by attending institutions to issue tokens or launch stablecoin products, but it gives these subjects a far more prominent platform than speculative crypto trading.

New forums extend beyond traditional finance

ADGM has added 10 new events and platforms for the 2026 programme, spanning hedge funds, real estate, healthcare, infrastructure, energy and geo-economics. New additions include the Abu Dhabi Real Estate Summit, the AIMA Global Hedge Fund Leadership Platform and the Health Finance & Innovation Forum, which is being held with the Atlantic Council.

Other planned forums include the CNBC AI Capital Stack Summit, the Next Three Billion Summit with Semafor, a Treasury Leadership Forum, a US-UAE Trade Corridor Forum, Hub71 Growth Stage and New Energy Finance with XRG. The range of subjects points to an event designed around the movement of capital across sectors, from cloud computing and energy infrastructure to property and private markets.

The inclusion of a real-estate summit is particularly relevant to the tokenisation agenda. Property-backed digital tokens have been promoted in several markets as a way to divide ownership into smaller units, but the model depends on clear rights over the underlying asset and compliance with securities, property and investor-protection laws. A high-level conference discussion does not resolve those issues, yet it brings asset owners and financial intermediaries closer to the regulatory conversations that determine whether such products can scale.

International institutions and regulators deepen their role

Organisers said the 2026 event will expand collaborations with the International Monetary Fund, the European Union, the Arab Monetary Fund, AIMA, the Atlantic Council, CNBC, Chinese business outlet Yicai and Semafor. The Arab Monetary Fund is scheduled to convene its Regional FinTech Working Group during the four-day programme.

Dedicated dialogues are also planned around China, South Korea, the European Union and the United States. Those discussions could become particularly relevant for stablecoins and digital-asset infrastructure, where rules on reserve assets, licensing, sanctions compliance, data governance and cross-border payments vary sharply among major economies.

The programme arrives as financial centres compete to host the legal and operational infrastructure for tokenised markets. ADGM has sought to establish itself as a regulated hub for digital-asset businesses, while the United Arab Emirates has built separate financial and virtual-asset regulatory structures across Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The conference’s focus on regulatory coordination suggests that market access and rule-setting will be as prominent as technology demonstrations.

Senior finance executives headline the gathering

The speaker list provided by organisers includes David Rubenstein, co-founder and co-chairman of The Carlyle Group, alongside senior leaders from JPMorgan, Santander, Morgan Stanley, State Street and UBS. Executives from Revolut, Stonepeak, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, Christie’s, Systematica Investments and GCM Grosvenor are also listed.

Founders from Crusoe, Higgsfield AI and XPANCEO are expected to join the programme, adding technology and AI perspectives to discussions traditionally dominated by banks and fund managers.

The event’s four thematic days are structured around economic and market questions expected to extend into 2027. Day one will cover Abu Dhabi’s “Falcon Economy,” global markets and macroeconomic trends. Day two shifts to asset management, private markets and wealth, followed by digital finance and AI on day three. Sustainable finance will close the programme on day four.

With tokenisation and stablecoins scheduled beside global regulation, treasury operations and institutional capital, Abu Dhabi Finance Week is shaping its digital-asset coverage around the systems needed for large financial firms to use blockchain-based instruments within supervised markets.
