Trump Media sells Bitcoin for seven months

Trump Media & Technology Group has transferred 2,628 Bitcoin valued at roughly $165 million, according to wallet data tracked by Arkham and cited by blockchain monitor Lookonchain, reducing the company’s reported Bitcoin reserve to 4,261 BTC. The latest movement extends a seven-month period in which wallets linked to the Truth Social parent company have sent out 7,281 BTC.

Arkham recorded two recent transfers associated with the company: one involving 2,429 BTC and another involving 198.9 BTC. At the time Lookonchain highlighted the transactions, Arkham valued the remaining 4,261 BTC at about $269.8 million.

The transfers are large enough to place Trump Media among the more closely watched corporate Bitcoin holders, particularly because the reported sales have steadily reduced a position that Lookonchain said initially totaled 11,542 BTC.

Reported bitcoin sales follow a costly entry

Lookonchain calculated that Trump Media acquired its Bitcoin at an average price of $118,522 per coin, putting the implied cost of the original 11,542-BTC position at about $1.37 billion. It estimated that the company’s 7,281 BTC in reported sales were transferred at an average price of $74,855.

Using those figures, the sales would have generated about $545 million, while the remaining holdings were worth about $270 million at the $63,471 Bitcoin price cited in the materials. Combined, the realized and unrealized value of the position would stand near $815 million, implying losses of roughly $550 million compared with the reported acquisition cost.

Those calculations depend on Lookonchain’s estimates of the company’s average entry and exit prices. Wallet transfers can show that coins moved, but they do not by themselves establish whether each transaction represented an immediate market sale, an over-the-counter transaction, collateral movement, custody change, or an internal transfer. The reported pace of the reduction nevertheless shows that the company’s Bitcoin exposure has fallen sharply from its initial level.

Trump Media’s earlier wallet activity pointed in the same direction. On May 22, linked wallets transferred a combined 2,650 BTC worth about $205 million, according to the supplied transaction data. The latest 2,628 BTC movement is nearly the same size, suggesting the company has been reducing the reserve in large blocks rather than through small, routine treasury transactions.

Remaining reserve is worth less than one quarter of the reported purchase cost

The 4,261 BTC balance represents about 37% of the original 11,542 BTC position reported by Lookonchain. At the cited Bitcoin market price, that remaining balance is worth less than one-quarter of the roughly $1.37 billion implied by the original average purchase price.

Bitcoin’s decline from the reported $118,522 average acquisition price to around $63,471 has placed the company’s digital-asset strategy under more pressure than a conventional cash reserve or short-duration government debt allocation would face. A corporate treasury holding Bitcoin can rise or fall rapidly with the market, while a sale during a downturn can convert a paper loss into a realized one.

The reported transactions do not establish why Trump Media moved the Bitcoin or how any proceeds were used. They do, though, leave the company with a considerably smaller reserve and less ability to benefit if Bitcoin were to recover toward the stated purchase price.

The holdings reduction also occurred during a weak period for Trump Media’s publicly traded shares. DJT closed Friday at $9.86, down more than 25% over the same seven-month period, according to Yahoo Finance data provided in the materials. The simultaneous decline in the company’s share price and Bitcoin reserve value adds pressure to scrutiny of how the business manages cash, digital assets, and new revenue initiatives.

Clarity act debate has not required corporate sales

The transactions have drawn attention as US lawmakers continue negotiating the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, or CLARITY Act. Discussion around the legislation has included proposals addressing digital-asset ownership by public officials and potential conflicts created when officials issue, sponsor, or promote digital assets.

The bill remained under consideration, according to the supplied information, and the proposed provisions did not require private companies to sell Bitcoin or other existing digital-asset holdings. Trump Media’s transfers therefore should not be treated as a direct consequence of the legislative debate without evidence from the company.

The political setting may nevertheless intensify attention around the company’s crypto activity. Trump Media is closely associated with President Donald Trump through Truth Social, making its financial decisions more sensitive than those of many other corporate Bitcoin holders. Any rules affecting political figures’ relationships with digital assets could shape how market participants assess the company’s future disclosures and treasury strategy.

Truth api introduces a premium data product

Alongside the Bitcoin sales, Trump Media has launched Truth API, a paid data service designed to provide faster access to Truth Social posts from President Trump. The company has described the product as a direct, licensed, real-time feed of potentially market-moving posts.

The service was reported to cost as much as $100,000 a month, or $1.2 million annually for a customer paying the highest listed rate. That figure exceeds the $871,200 in first-quarter revenue cited in the supplied materials, although the comparison does not indicate how many customers have signed up, what price they pay, or how much revenue the service will generate after operating costs.

The product targets a narrow but potentially valuable group of financial-data users, news organizations, trading firms, and others seeking immediate access to posts that can affect political narratives and market sentiment. Its commercial appeal rests on speed: a post about tariffs, regulation, monetary policy, defense, or a specific company can quickly move prices before slower information channels catch up.

Trump Media’s Bitcoin transfers and Truth API launch reflect two very different financial choices. One reduces exposure to a volatile reserve accumulated at a much higher reported price; the other attempts to turn the company’s ownership of a politically influential social platform into subscription revenue. With 4,261 BTC still visible in Arkham-linked wallets, future movements of that reserve will remain a closely followed measure of whether the company continues to scale back its Bitcoin position.
