Key crypto and finance events unfold July 20 to 26

A busy week for digital assets and global markets is set to begin July 20, with traders watching a mix of token-supply changes, central bank policy, U.S. crypto legislation, blockchain network upgrades and corporate capital actions that could shape short-term liquidity and risk appetite.

The most closely watched digital-asset event is Worldcoin’s change to its WLD token unlock schedule, due to take effect globally on July 24. The project plans to cut daily token unlocks from about 5.1 million WLD to roughly 2.9 million WLD, a reduction of around 43%. The move is intended to slow the pace at which new tokens enter circulation and make the project’s supply schedule more manageable.

At recent market prices, the reduction could remove close to $1 million in potential daily selling pressure, depending on where WLD trades after the adjustment takes effect. That figure is not fixed, because the dollar value of the reduced emissions will move with the token price. Still, for short-term traders, the change is likely to be one of the main crypto-specific events of the week.

The week also carries major macroeconomic and regulatory importance. The European Central Bank is scheduled to announce its latest interest rate decision on July 23, followed by a press conference led by President Christine Lagarde. Traders will be watching for any signal on whether the central bank plans to hold policy steady or prepare for another move as it assesses inflation, growth and financial conditions across the euro area.

In the United States, the Senate is expected to review the CLARITY Act, a closely followed digital asset bill that aims to define a clearer regulatory framework for the sector. The proposal has become a major focus for crypto traders and policy watchers because it could determine how digital assets are classified, supervised and traded in the U.S. market.

Token unlock changes draw immediate focus

Worldcoin’s supply adjustment is expected to be implemented on July 24 across the project’s global token model. The reduction from approximately 5.1 million to 2.9 million tokens per day represents one of the more direct supply-side changes facing the crypto market during the week.

Token unlock schedules matter because they determine how quickly previously allocated tokens become available for transfer or sale. When unlocks are large, traders often track them closely because they can increase liquid supply. When unlocks are reduced, the immediate effect is usually viewed through the lens of lower potential selling pressure, although price direction still depends on demand, broader market conditions and sentiment around the project.

Eightco Holdings currently controls about 283 million WLD tokens, representing around 8.1% of the circulating supply. That concentration adds another layer of attention to the project’s token structure, especially as traders evaluate how supply changes may affect liquidity, volatility and order-book depth.

For WLD, the area around 40 cents has become a level many short-term traders are likely to monitor. A sharp move above or below that zone after the July 24 adjustment could trigger increased activity, especially among traders using leverage. The supply cut itself does not guarantee a price increase, but it changes one of the main variables affecting the market: the rate at which new tokens become available.

The timing is also important. Crypto markets have remained sensitive to macroeconomic news, ETF flows, U.S. regulatory updates and shifts in liquidity expectations. A project-specific supply reduction may attract attention, but its effect can be amplified or overshadowed by larger market events during the same week.

ECB decision could shape liquidity expectations

The European Central Bank’s July 23 policy decision will be one of the most important non-crypto events of the week. The central bank’s deposit facility rate has been a key reference point for global traders tracking borrowing costs, euro-area inflation and liquidity conditions.

President Christine Lagarde’s press conference may prove as important as the rate decision itself. Traders will be listening for language on inflation persistence, wage growth, credit conditions and the timing of any future policy changes. Even if the ECB keeps policy unchanged, its guidance could influence the euro, government bonds, equities and high-risk assets including cryptocurrencies.

Digital assets often react to broad liquidity expectations. When traders expect tighter financial conditions, speculative assets can face pressure. When traders believe central banks are moving closer to easier policy, risk appetite can improve. The ECB decision is therefore likely to be watched beyond Europe, especially by desks comparing monetary policy paths in the euro area, the United States and Asia.

Borrowing costs remain central to this discussion. Higher rates can reduce the appeal of assets that do not produce yield, while lower rates may encourage traders to move further out on the risk curve. The ECB is not expected to set policy for crypto markets directly, but its decisions feed into the global liquidity environment in which crypto trades.

For traders holding both spot and derivative positions, the ECB event may increase demand for short-dated hedges. Sudden moves in rates, currencies or bond yields can spill into Bitcoin, Ethereum and smaller tokens, particularly when leverage is elevated.

U.S. Senate review puts crypto rules in focus

The CLARITY Act is expected to come before the U.S. Senate during the same week, giving traders another major event to track. The bill is intended to create a clearer legal framework for digital assets, including how certain tokens are classified and which agencies oversee different parts of the market.

Passage will not be easy. The measure is expected to need support from at least seven Democratic senators, and discussions remain active around ethics rules, consumer protection, financial stability and oversight of digital asset businesses. The debate has also become more politically charged as lawmakers examine financial links and digital asset income involving public figures.

Senator Elizabeth Warren has requested additional financial records tied to a reported $1.4 billion in digital asset-related income linked to Donald Trump. That request has added pressure to an already complicated negotiation, with some Democrats raising concerns about conflicts of interest and the need for stronger safeguards.

Prediction markets have recently reflected skepticism about near-term passage, with some pricing suggesting only a limited chance that the measure clears the Senate quickly. Such markets can shift rapidly and are not a definitive forecast, but they show that traders are treating the political path as uncertain.

If lawmakers fail to advance the CLARITY Act before Congress leaves for its August recess, the timeline could slip. A delay into the autumn or beyond would extend the period of regulatory uncertainty for digital asset firms and traders. It could also leave the market relying on agency enforcement actions, court decisions and partial guidance rather than a comprehensive federal framework.

Republican leaders are aiming to bring the bill to a full Senate session during the upcoming week. The outcome could affect sentiment toward U.S.-linked crypto businesses, token issuers and platforms that are waiting for clearer rules on market structure.

Zcash upgrade adds technical milestone

Zcash is also scheduled for a major technical event, with the Ironwood upgrade expected to activate on July 21. Developers have said the upgrade follows completion of consensus rule implementation and final auditing, with testnet validation in its final phase.

The Ironwood upgrade is designed to strengthen supply integrity and improve security protocols on the Zcash network. For privacy-focused blockchains, upgrades of this kind are especially important because they touch on core network assumptions, including transaction validation, cryptographic protections and long-term reliability.

Node operators and service providers will need to ensure that software clients are updated before activation. Those that do not upgrade in time risk falling out of sync with the network or experiencing service interruptions. In blockchain systems, consensus upgrades require careful coordination because incompatible software can lead to rejected blocks, failed transactions or temporary operational disruptions.

Major network upgrades often lead to a short-term rise in transfer activity as users, infrastructure operators and traders prepare for the change. That does not necessarily indicate a lasting shift in demand, but it can increase the need for monitoring around the activation window.

For Zcash traders, the key question is whether the upgrade proceeds smoothly. A successful activation can support confidence in the network’s development process, while delays or technical issues could weigh on sentiment.

Corporate actions add to market calendar

Beyond digital assets and monetary policy, several corporate events are scheduled for July 20.

Changxin Technology has required participating shareholders in its new share subscription to complete payment by July 20. According to the company’s notice, funds must be settled before 16:00 on that date, with the final issue price set at 8.66 yuan per share. The payment deadline marks an important administrative step in the company’s financing process.

Cango will also carry out a 10-to-1 share consolidation on July 20 as part of its capital restructuring plan. The move follows shareholder approval and is intended to adjust the structure of its American depositary shares.

A share consolidation increases the nominal price of each share or receipt by reducing the number outstanding in the same proportion. It does not, by itself, change the company’s underlying value. For that reason, traders usually look beyond the optical price change and focus instead on earnings, cash flow, business performance and the reason management pursued the restructuring.

Corporate consolidations can sometimes affect trading behavior because price charts, position sizes and liquidity profiles change after the adjustment. However, they are accounting and structural actions rather than direct improvements in business fundamentals.

New futures product tied to SpaceX exposure

A new perpetual futures product tied to Space Exploration Technologies Corp., commonly known as SpaceX, is also scheduled to launch on July 20. The contract will allow leverage of up to 25 times, with funding rates resetting every eight hours.

The product uses USD1 as the settlement asset and has a minimum trading size of 0.01 units. Because SpaceX remains a private company, products offering synthetic or derivative exposure to its valuation can draw attention from traders looking for access to high-profile private-market themes.

Leverage of up to 25 times means small price moves can produce much larger gains or losses. That makes funding rates, liquidation levels and market depth important factors for traders. Perpetual futures do not expire in the same way as traditional futures, so funding payments are used to keep the contract price aligned with the underlying reference market.

The launch adds another speculative instrument to a week already filled with policy and crypto-specific catalysts. Its reception may offer a signal of demand for products linked to private technology companies, particularly those associated with space, artificial intelligence and defense-related infrastructure.

Cap reward campaign nears conclusion

Cap’s reward campaign, known as “Homestead,” is scheduled to conclude on July 23. The event marks the end of the second season of points distribution, which began in January.

Users have been able to earn returns or scores through holdings and lending participation connected to stablecoin pools. Points-based campaigns have become common in decentralized finance and stablecoin-linked products, as protocols use them to encourage activity before possible future rewards, governance events or product launches.

The end of a points season can change user behavior. Some participants may withdraw liquidity after rewards stop, while others may remain if yields or future incentives are attractive. Stablecoin pools are often viewed as lower-volatility areas within crypto, but they still carry smart contract, liquidity and counterparty risks depending on the structure.

For traders, the main issue is whether the close of Homestead affects liquidity in related pools. Any meaningful withdrawal of capital could influence yields, borrowing conditions or the depth of associated markets.

A week defined by supply, policy and timing

The July 20 to 26 window brings together several forces that can move markets: a major token unlock reduction, a central bank decision, a U.S. legislative review, a privacy-network upgrade, corporate capital changes and new derivative exposure.

The Worldcoin adjustment is the most direct supply event, while the ECB meeting is the key macro event. The CLARITY Act review carries the most important regulatory implications, especially for U.S. digital asset activity. Zcash’s Ironwood upgrade adds a technical milestone, and the corporate actions from Changxin Technology and Cango round out the financial calendar.

The common thread is timing. Each event arrives during a period when traders remain sensitive to liquidity, regulation and leverage. That means even routine announcements could have a larger effect if they coincide with thin market depth or crowded positioning.

No single event is likely to determine the direction of the entire digital asset market on its own. Together, however, they create a week in which traders will need to watch both crypto-native developments and broader financial signals closely.
