Metalpha reports fiscal 2026 revenue growth

Metalpha Technology Holding Limited reported revenue of $37.1 million and total assets of $485.6 million for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2026, with the company saying its asset base nearly doubled while it remained profitable during a volatile period for digital-asset markets.

The Hong Kong-based digital-asset trading and technology firm published its audited annual results after filing its Form 20-F with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Aug. 6. The filing covers the 12 months through March 31 and includes Metalpha’s audited financial statements.

Metalpha said the increase in assets accompanied an expansion of its operating capacity, including growth in its core team, additional hiring and investment in compliance infrastructure. The company did not disclose a detailed breakdown of those hiring plans in its announcement.

Trading operations drive the balance-sheet story

The $485.6 million asset figure places the company’s balance sheet at almost twice its level from the preceding fiscal period, according to Metalpha. For a company operating a principal-based proprietary trading model, the figure reflects the scale of assets held within a business that trades cryptocurrencies and other digital assets for its own account.

Metalpha also provides blockchain and trading-technology solutions through subsidiaries. Its business model combines proprietary trading with services and strategies aimed at digital-asset market participants, giving the firm exposure to both trading performance and the operational demands of handling complex crypto-market activity.

The company said it used structured derivative solutions, hedging and liquidity strategies to manage risk exposure for clients. Structured derivatives are customized financial contracts whose value is linked to an underlying asset or market outcome. In crypto markets, they can be used to set price ranges, offset directional exposure or tailor returns and protection around a client’s holdings.

Those tools can help reduce the impact of abrupt price swings, but they also require strong controls around collateral, counterparties and liquidity. Metalpha’s reference to expanded compliance infrastructure suggests the company is building systems intended to support a larger balance sheet and more sophisticated trading activity.

Profitability reported during a volatile year

Metalpha said it maintained profitability for the fiscal year, although the supplied results did not specify its net income figure. Revenue reached $37.1 million, according to the company’s audited filing.

The financial update arrives after a year in which cryptocurrency markets continued to experience sharp price moves and changing liquidity conditions. Such conditions can create trading opportunities for firms with market-making, hedging or derivative capabilities, while also increasing the risks tied to leverage, collateral demands and rapid changes in asset values.

Metalpha’s results therefore offer a view into how a proprietary digital-asset trading business can expand even when the market environment is unsettled. The company’s nearly doubled assets and reported profitability indicate that its operating model generated enough activity to support both balance-sheet growth and continued investment in personnel and compliance.

The figures alone do not show how much of the asset growth came from trading positions, cash balances, receivables, collateral or other categories. Those distinctions are relevant for judging the composition and liquidity of a trading firm’s balance sheet, particularly in markets where asset prices can move rapidly.

SEC filing offers more detail for shareholders

Metalpha filed its annual report on Form 20-F with the SEC on Aug. 6, 2026. Form 20-F is the annual reporting document used by foreign private issuers listed in the United States, and it generally includes audited financial statements, risk disclosures, information on operations and corporate governance details.

The report is available through the SEC’s online database. Metalpha said its filing contains the full audited financial statements for the year ended March 31, 2026.

The company’s forward-looking statement notice cautioned that projections about future performance involve known and unknown risks and uncertainties and that actual results could differ materially from expectations. That language reflects the uncertainty facing businesses whose revenues and balance sheets can be influenced by digital-asset prices, trading volumes, regulatory changes and market liquidity.

Compliance expansion follows asset growth

Metalpha’s plans to add staff and build compliance capacity point to a practical challenge facing digital-asset trading firms: growth brings more operational complexity. Larger trading activity can require tighter risk limits, more monitoring of counterparties and stronger procedures for managing transactions across different venues and instruments.

For Metalpha, the focus on hedging and liquidity strategies also places execution quality at the center of its business. A liquidity strategy is designed to help a firm enter or exit positions without creating excessive market impact, while hedging seeks to offset risks that could arise from moves in cryptocurrency prices or derivatives markets.

The company’s latest filing presents a balance sheet that has grown substantially alongside a reported profitable year. Its next financial results will show whether that expansion can be sustained as Metalpha adds personnel, develops its compliance framework and continues to operate in markets where risk management can be as decisive as trading performance.
